Besides the dance studio, the Hub and the Compound kitchen, Lily found herself spending most of her time on the beach. The other buildings were great and they allowed her to do things that had helped her settle into living on an island, but she couldn't deny how much she loved the beach. The sun, the sand and the salt water were too familiar and too great a pull to deny. She wasn't homesick, not after having been in New York for awhile already, but it was still nice.

With her towel, bag and book left up on the dry sand, Lily picked her way down to the water in the purple bikini she'd slowly coaxed out of the box one day. With the water lapping at her ankles, she took a moment, enjoying the day, then rushed into the ocean. When she was deep enough, she dove under, then came to the surface again, gasping and laughing.

Treading water just far enough into the ocean that she could no longer touch the bottom, she pushed her wet hair out of her face, then began to swim back toward the shore. She'd never been the type to work out beyond her dance routine, but there was something undeniably enjoyable about being in the water. Or there was, until something smooth and hard brushed against her calf.

Lily froze in the water, close enough to shore now that she could stand. For a long moment, there was nothing, then something butted hard against her thigh and Lily screamed in surprise. The first thought that flashed through her mind was that she was about to be bitten by a shark and she floundered toward the shore. She screamed again when something knocked against her legs and in water still up to her hips, she turned, wanting to see whatever it was before it tried to eat her.

Behind her, bobbing near the surface, was a dolphin.

"Jesus Christ," Lily said, a relieved laugh escaping as she stared at the animal. It swan closer, butting up against her outstretched hands and she laughed again, harder this time. "You fucking asshole," she said to the dolphin, then looked toward the beach to see if her ridiculous screaming had attracted anyone's attention.

[She screamed loud enough to be heard up the beach, but is obviously not in any danger. Great time to meet her. ST/LT, all good!]
