Billy had rarely been the kind of kid who stared about of the classroom window all morning wishing he could get out. Even after joining the Young Avengers, he'd resisted the urge to go day dreaming, saving that for after school, when he could visit any part of the world he wanted. Having that sort of freedom made staying in school easier to bear, with all the adventure he'd gone through.

It wasn't quite the same on Tabula Rasa, however, and if he missed one thing that came with his magic, it was that freedom. Being stuck somewhere sucked more than the telling of it, and especially so when none of his friends were with him. Alexis more than made up for it, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't miss the others - and Teddy, more than anyone else, of course.

Ignoring Valentine's Day had been the plan, but that was made near impossible when, in the minute it took to walk from the compound to the school, Billy realized the entire island had turned into some crazy version of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. The scent of sugar hung heavily in the air, making Billy feel a little green around the gills when he stood out in the sun for too long, amazed.

Abanding his initial plans to practice swimming in the waterfall, Billy wandered. Every few feet or so he'd walk up to a tree or a bush, tentatively picking off little bits to taste, invoking his mother's voice in the back of his head, warning him to stop eating so much candy. But stopping was hard, when everything in sight was edible and Billy hadn't had a proper sugary snack since New Year's. What was he supposed to do, ignore the chocolate river, the tree bark, the ridiculously sweet berries that looked like they might kill you when normal, but now only tasted like an explosion of awesome when he bit into them? For once, Billy was going to indulge himself, even if it meant he would probably regret it it when he began to crash from his sugar high.

Spotting a flower he hadn't tasted before, Billy wandered off the boardwalk to pick a handful of the orange blossoms. How they tasted like orange-flavored chocolate when he bit into them, Billy would never know, but he wasn't going to question it.

"Oh my God," he sighed, clutching a handful of the flowers as he turned back to the boardwalk. When he spotted someone there, he swallowed the mouthful he'd taken, then held out one of the flowers. "Here, try this. It's amazing."
