Just because Lily knew the rules didn't mean she had to follow them.
With a glance back at the other dancers, she slipped down the hall toward Nina's dressing room, without any idea what she was going to say if the other woman even opened the door and let her get in a few words. It was too close to the curtain and she knew she wasn't supposed to disrupt Nina, but she couldn't let this go.
Knocking softly on the door, Lily bit her lip as she waited, toes turned out to stretch her calves at the same time. When the door opened, she smiled brightly, unable to stop herself, because onstage, Nina had been completely radiant. It was like everything Lily had been trying to tell her about loosening up and letting go had finally gotten through and it wasn't like she was going to take credit, but maybe she'd helped. She hoped she had.
"Hey," she said, still grinning. Seeing Nina, really seeing her now made all of Lily’s excitement completely boil over. "You were amazing. Seriously, I know that things got a little messed up between us, but... I mean, holy shit! You completely blew me away."
Standing in the door of Nina's dressing room, she wasn't sure what she expected, but Nina was quiet. In fact, she looked more than a little freaked out and Lily wondered if maybe the whole thing was a little much for her. Everyone wanted to be good, but it was scary, too, and Nina looked terrified. Or maybe she was just still pissed. Either way, she wasn't saying much. It wasn't like it would be the end of the world if Nina didn't accept her apology, but she would have liked it.
Nodding, Lily said, "Okay, well, I guess, that's it. So I'll let you finish. Bye." She smiled again and gave Nina a little wave before turning away.
From down the hall, one of the stagehands adjusted a light and Lily lifted her hand, shielding her eyes from the glare. "Jesus, wrong direction," she said, squinting against the bright light before it was turned away and she could drop her hand again. "I can't go back on stage if I'm..."
Trailing off, Lily paused to let her eyes adjust to the light again. It was a hallway, much like the one in the studio, but the people she saw were not the dancers she'd left behind and she knew, instantly, that it didn't lead to any dressing room or any stage that was familiar to her. Frowning, she spun around, knowing she wouldn't see Nina's name on the door behind her, yet looking for it anyway.
The door was gone.
"What the hell," she murmured, turning around again, feathers floating free of her costume.
Lily didn't know what to think and so she stood in the hall, at a complete loss, utterly speechless. Her mouth opened, but she couldn't think of a single thing to say, and so she closed it again, staring at this new world in confusion.
[Lily is dressed in a costume similar to
this. First tag can find her in the hall outside the kitchen and explain, after that you find her anywhere in the Compound.]
