Saffron's ex-husband was gone, and she didn't know how she felt about it. Hell, it wasn't like she was going to miss the houzi de pigu, but as mutual as their hate was, he had been a reminder of home, of the black. And now she couldn't help but wonder: why does he get to go back out of the world and I don'tShe'd been spending as much time as she ( Read more... )

For his part, Xander was very glad Helen wasn't up on the space station right now. He felt for all those worried about those stuck on the second island and up above but as long as she was safe, he could breath easy.

When he'd heard the theme for tonight was disco, he'd been kind of excited. Disco clothes were always bright and fun! Except the clothes box continued it's streak of not liking him and gave him the smoothest 70s clothes he'd ever seen. Still, he could do worse then being a Ken Hutchinson impersonator for the night. Now if he could only get a Gran Torino to finish the look...

Dreams of iconic cars aside, Xander was doing his best to keep people smiling and not thinking about what was happening outside the club, Helen especially. When he danced, he picked a Micheal Jackson song he'd never heard before but he thought worked with the smooth look he was going with it. Who knew Xander Harris could do smooth at all?

The group dance with the girls had gone off without a hitch. They'd danced to a catchy little number called We Are Family, in sexy little outfits that coordinated, but didn't completely match, and Saffron was pleased with how well it had been received. Glad, too, that they'd talked and decided to make it a weekly thing.

Afterward, she'd changed back into her main costume for the night, and much later came her solo performance, last and at around 1 am as usual. She'd picked a song, not unusually, that meant something to her - she'd listened to it before, when going through the iPods to find things to perform to, but it wasn't until now that she really understood the lyrics, really felt them.

She got into the performance as usual, played to the audience and displayed the talent she'd been honing over the past two years. And once she'd slipped backstage to redress and freshen up, she was back out among the patrons, socializing and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves right up until closing time.

Priestly showed up late, after he finished up at the Winchester for the night, but not too late to catch Helen on stage. He didn't usually show up at the club when he wasn't working, but theme nights were a special occasion and he didn't want to miss it, even if he couldn't stay long.

"Brilliant, as always," he said when he finally got a piece of her, raising a glass to her performance. "You never miss a beat, do you."

"Thank you, Priestly," Saffron replied with a warm smile, stretching up to greet him with a kiss to the cheek. She was always glad to see him.

"How are things over at The Winchester?" she asked, knowing that was where he'd come from.

"We're holding it together," he said with a little shake of his head. It was tense, and a little rough going, but they were holding the place together, keeping up the routine. "Show up any Saturday and I'll cook you a dinner you'll never forget."

His first ever shift as a bouncer hadn't been that adventurous so far but Ray was pretty pleased about that. He was trying to keep a low profile just in case tales of his audition earlier in the morning had gotten out. Or Asher had decided to up his payback and screen the entire thing for all the island residents to see.

Ray didn't genuinely think he'd do that but Asher had a sister with a malicious streak and he'd put nothing past her. So he was stood in the corner of the Willows Room, surveying the area for any drunk or disorderly behavior, and just waiting for someone to wolf-whistle at him or tell him to shake his booty. And even though it was disco night, Ray wouldn't be shaking anything in public.

Just to mess with him a little, and with a plan to call it new hire initiation or some such thing if she needed to, Saffron slipped up behind Ray and stretched up onto her toes to speak softly into his ear. "Looking good, Ray," she said, putting her hands on his shoulders for balance. "Almost as good as this morning."

Barely suppressing a groan, Ray dropped his chin to his chest and screwed his eyes closed for a moment. "I s'pose there's no chance of you losing all memory in the next three seconds..?" The only upside to the entire thing was that Helen didn't look like she needed trauma counseling.

"Don't worry, your secret's safe with me," Saffron replied, still speaking close to his ear so they wouldn't be overheard. She released him, then, and walked around so she was standing in front of him. "How's your first night going? We usually don't get much trouble around here, thankfully."

The best thing, as far as Bill was concerned, about the disco theme tonight was that there were no roller skates involved. Sure, it was fun, but it was true that the taller they were, the farther they had to fall.

He'd got a ridiculously gaudy shirt from the clothes box and paired it with black bell-bottomed trousers. Between sets he was upstairs, ostensibly keeping Roger company and taking in the girls' performances, but also to keep an eye on his best mate with Dean stuck elsewhere.
