It was probably the height of ridiculousness to drag an armful of books and a blanket down to the beach especially when she'd have to carry it all back, but Cissie was determined to do her research out in the fresh air

"Because a bow is so much cooler?" Cassie said as she plopped down next to Cissie and Iris greeted Cissie with a quick lick on the hand. "Whatca doing?"
Cissie snorted at that as she leaned over to give Iris some heavy-duty scratchings behind the ear. "Yeah, when you don't have to lug it around and hope to god your mother didn't put in the stupid perfume arrows."
"I was just trying to figure out how I could make some new arrows. We've got the wood here, that's about it."
"Hey, you saw the original costume, right? I don't even want to know what she was on to think that was a good idea."
Cissie leaned over to see which book Cassie had. "Feathers. Something to stick them on. Someway to carve the arrows and get the right shape. What I really want is to make more grappling arrows and stuff like that, but that'll never happen."
"We were super heroes. Fashion sense is usually the first thing to go with powers. I mean, a legion of spandex? Come on!" It it was why a lot of Young Justice seems to go the non-spandex route.
"Well, there are birds in the jungle and those chickens in the barn. You can't use those feathers?" Cassie asked as she skimmed through. "I mean, how hard can it be?"
"True," Cissie considered for a moment. "But I think in mom's case, she was just crazy. That first version was the style she wore when she was running around. No wonder Green Arrow pretty much ran, you know?"
Her attention back to the problem of the arrows, she shook her head. "Yeah, those might work but I still have to attach them somehow."
"It was also tacky as hell." Cassie pointed out with a laugh. "I'm mean rhinestones? On white? Really?"
"Well," Cassie said once they got back to the topic at hand, waving her hand at the book spread around them. "That's what these books are for right? I mean, Indians had to make arrows somehow and they didn't have any fancy stuff. And if it's good enough for them, it will be good enough for us!"
"Ugh, tell me about it," Cissie groaned, making a disgusted face. "She designed it herself. Enough said, right?"
She grinned at Cassie's enthusiasm. She didn't think it was going to be as easy as that, but having her support made everything seem a little less daunting. "Of course, you realize the biggest problem is making sure the dogs don't get them."
"Totally. The red one was a much better choice." And may have influenced her choice of red pants when she changed her own costume.
Of course, Cissie mentioning the dogs made her laugh and made Iris snort. "I think Aeneas will be the trouble make. We know he likes to steal things by all the chess pawns we find in our hut. Though can you imagine Anatoly and Luthor finding half made arrows in theirs?" She laughed again since the thought was pretty funny.

"Perfume arrows? Seriously? Your mom is so weird..." And once again Cassie was grateful for her own mother.
Considering this, Cassie picked up one of the books and leafed through it. "Well, what else do you need?"

She shook her head and started pulling the books together. "I think I'm done trying to figure out stuff for right now. Up to anything interesting?"

"Well...I was considering lunch. Want to join me?" She asked as she helped gather the books.
