Movie Night Theme Night at The Catscratch Club

Sep 18, 2010 12:57

During the time the club had been open, Saffron had gotten many a suggestion as to what to do for theme night. Often, the suggestions were movies, something she had done in the past - in fact, the very first theme night had been a movie. It seemed a little restrictive to her, though, in that if she hadn't gone and watched that movie on Lloyd's ( Read more... )

Abby wasn't on duty on Saturdays, but she loved the theme nights, so she usually showed up, either in costume or not.

Tonight, it was not, well, not exactly. She wasn't a classic movie character, but she was Bettie Page since Bettie was a character and caricature of herself at times. The box had given her something very demure and yet not at all demure and she was enjoying the dichotomy.

She settled into a table with a glass of whiskeyish and watched the dancers and her fellow employees. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday night.

"You look gorgeous, Coffee Bird, but I'm not sure who you're supposed to be," Bill said, coming up beside her, his helmet tucked under one arm. He leaned down and grinned briefly against her lips before kissing her hello.

Abby smiled and returned Bill's kiss easily, tilting her face up to him happily. His costume was pretty good, but she wasn't really sure who exactly he was either.

"Thank you, Coffee Guy. I'm Bettie Page. She was a pin up girl and sort of actress in the 50s in the US. Most of her outfits don't have this much fabric. Who are you?"

She scooted over a little on her plush bench so he could sit down. It would be a tight squeeze, but that wasn't usually a problem with Bill.

Bill sat down next to Abby, having to put his arm around her since there wasn't much room, which he didn't mind at all. He was between sets, so he had a bit to sit with her. "I'm King Leonidas, from that movie 300," he answered. "Not an entirely historically accurate portrayal, but entertaining anyhow."

Abby snugged in tight next to Bill and put a hand on his thigh under the table, purely in the interests of space-conservation, of course.

"I don't think I ever saw that one," she mused. "But I remember the story from ancient history classes. Maybe I should see if the shelf will give me a copy."

She slid her hand up his thigh a little bit.

"Since I've already seen your set, I guess I can't ask you if anything's worn under the toga," she teased him.

Bill rather enjoyed her hand on his thigh, and in fact might have wondered if something was wrong if she hadn't done. "You always could just find out for yourself later on," he said, leaning in to speak close to her ear.

That tickled in a good way, but she still made a squinchy face when he spoke so close to her ear. She also slid her hand a little further up his thigh, which meant she was definitely under the toga now and enjoying how well built Bill was, as usual.

"I could," she agreed thoughtfully. "You know, that's not a bad idea. Is it the helmet that helps you think such good thoughts?"

"Could be," Bill agreed. "Though I have been known to have a good idea or two on my own from time to time."

"That's true, especially when it comes to this kind of thing," Abby acknowledged, and slid her hand slightly further up his thigh. It was a good thing she'd started close to his knee or she'd be in danger of inappropriate touching of a dance.

"Your royal highness."

Abby glanced up at Zell and smiled. His costume was unmistakable and totally geeky, but she appreciated that he was also keeping an eye on things, since he was actually on duty.

"Hey Luke. Been fighting any of the Empire lately?"

"Oh, give TK-421 a break," she replied indulgently. "Everyone needs to get away from their post now and then. And he's not hurting anybody or any droids. It'd be pretty sweet if we had droids, though."

"I can safely say I've never dealt with a droid, attack or otherwise," she admitted. "And I'm okay with that, I think. Actually, I more than think. That definitely gets into the Uncanny Valley problem in a lot of cases, and we don't need to go there."

She wasn't sure Zell would know about the Uncanny Valley concept, but she could explain if he wanted. It was hard to figure out who knew what on the island.
