In her dreams, there is a child crying in the dark.

She can't move. Pinned under an unseen weight, the hot, wet stench of rot in her nose. In her dreams, she's alone, rocks under her hands, her feet, blood in her hair, and in the distance, that crying. Her daughter. Her daughters, and she can never, ever reach them.

She slams awake, bolting up from the pillows, a hand clutching at the tightness in her chest. Alone in the bed, for a moment, a handful of seconds, she has no idea where she is. For a moment, she's that crawling, scraping thing in the dark, hardly aware of her own name. But across the room, Adam is already awake, their daughter in his arms, and Sarah drags in a gasping breath, covering her face with trembling hands while the world rights itself around her.

"I'm all right. I just need some air," she tells him, waving off his concern with a fragile smile and stepping into her boots. She's out of their hut and in the cool, night air moments later, heart still hammering behind her ribs. She wanders, sticking close to their home, at first, and then walking a little further. Walking in the dark until the caged, suffocating desperation clawing up into the back of her throat finally starts to fade.

Sometimes, three years seems like no time at all.

[[Find her near the hut she shares with Adam and Coraline, or walking not far from the Compound. If you happened to be near their hut, you would definitely have heard Harriet screaming. Open to all, LT/ST welcome. She's obviously a pretty frazzled, but she actually needs company right now.]]
