Juliet isn’t one to sleep in her office, she finds it unprofessional normally, but with the way her schedule has been running her ragged she doesn’t have time to go home. She feels bad, especially because she had to send David to Jack’s just to keep up with her work load; not like Jack doesn’t have his own schedule. Running her hand over her face ( Read more... )

Back home, Joshua was a very light sleeper. Almost to the point of being hyper-vigilant. Now that he found himself living in a human body which felt a lot like having his senses dulled, his hyper-vigilance had slipped into just vigilance. And adding to things, the rhythmic downpour of the rain lulled him into a level of comfort with a more relaxed attitude than he ever would have felt comfortable having back home.

Still, when a door opens in the hut you live in by yourself, something goes off in your head. Joshua opens his eyes and for a moment he contemplates simply going back to sleep. But even now, that doesn't feel like the prudent thing to do. Best to just get up and confirm everything is fine.

So he's a little surprised to see Erica Evans standing in his hut. "Erica?" he says without thinking. "You're not Erica, are you?" he says a moment later. The lab coat isn't the only give away. There's nothing FBI about this woman.

Juliet freezes in the doorway and looks around for a minute first before saying anything. "No...no, I'm not Erica," she says slowly as she takes in her surroundings. It looks like someone's house, and she tries to filter all of the things she wants to say so nothing comes out completely blunt.

"Where am I?" That seems like a good start for now.

"You just got here," he says more to himself. That explains everything. He takes a deep breath and then lets it out.

"Here. How about you have a seat," he says, motioning to one of several chairs in the main room area. There are several book shelves mostly filled with large textbooks on various subjects. He's not thrilled to give the welcome to the island speech to someone who has just walked into his room and looks like the woman he would have killed him before he arrived, but in boxers and a tee shirt is an added invasion of his personal space. Though he pretends not to be embarrassed and manages to give her a small friendly smile.

Juliet's unsure of making her way further into his space, a stranger she doesn't know but he's hardly dressed, so she figures she can't be in much danger.

Walking to the chair she sits down and looks up at him. Her eyes scan the texts, picking up on the medical ones first. "Are you a doctor?" She knows there are probably more pressing questions she should be asking, but she's still a little sleep addled.

Harry normally preferred to spend his days outdoors, but the monsoon weather had put paid to that. The seas were too choppy to swim in and when he tried running the rain came at him so hard it was physically painful. He'd done his best to cover over the flowers in his garden, but he didn't hold out much hope for them. As it was, his only recourse was to hoard as many vaguely readable books from the rec room as possible, and hole up in the Office's Club until all of this blew over.

He couldn't deny that he was starting to get a bit stir-crazy. He jumped from his seat at every noise, desperate just for some company or for any sort of distraction. So when he heard one of the bedroom doors open, he was on his feet immediately, swivelling in the direction of the sound.

An unfamiliar woman came from the empty bedroom, into the lounge. Harry stared at her in baffled silence for a moment or two. There was only one door in here, and he'd been watching it like a hawk for hours. What's more, she was dry. He frowned.

"How the hell did you get

Juliet stares back at the man, and she turns once to look back at the door she just came out of.

"I don't...I fell asleep in my office and now..." She runs a hand through her hair and eyes him again warily. "Who are you?" She steps forward with trepidation, making a wide circle as her black heels click on the floor.

Harry slapped his forehead in frustration. Of course she was a newcomer, it was the only thing that explained it. Just because they usually turned up on the beach didn't mean they had to - maybe the island was being slightly lenient in putting her somewhere dry.

"God, of course, you've just arrived, haven't you?" he said, and leaned over, offering a hand. "My name's Harry Welsh. Welcome to the island. Do you want a drink? You might need it."

Juliet's still looking nice and wary, and she reaches out to shake his hand. "Juliet Carlson," she says in return, but there's still too much to question.

"I've arrived? How the hell did I get here?" Then she considers his offer for a drink. "And that depends. What do you have and how badly am I going to need it?"

The clinic on the island was far from the advanced facilities Helen was used to at the Sanctuary but it would do, and having work helped to alleviate the overwhelming sense of helplessness that being trapped on the island caused. It was at least something to pass the time and something that wasn't sitting about in her hut with Will contemplating how best to force him to pick up behind himself.

She was a little startled to hear someone coming inside the clinic and looked up, slightly embarrassed to have been caught daydreaming.

"Ah! I apologize, did you need a doctor for some reason?"

Juliet is still wearing her lab coat, and she looks around, black high heels clicking as she walks forward.

"This isn't my hospital," she starts, before looking at the other woman. "Where the hell am I?"

Ah, a new arrival. Helen herself wasn't terribly old and was still struggling to comprehend that the island wasn't a place she could leave...at least, until she figured out a way to get back home. It would happen, eventually, and until then she could bide her time.

"Some sort of deserted island, I'm afraid. I'm not sure where we are in relation to any of the major continents and I'm quite frustrated to have to admit that to you. Where were you last?"

Perhaps that was the secret to leaving the island: determining the origins of the population.

Juliet can't help it when she gapes a little, clearing her throat as she eyes the woman somewhat suspiciously.

"I was in my office at the hospital," she says with a little frown. "I fell asleep and when I woke up my office was gone."

Now she's going back to the deserted island portion of what she was just told. "Did you just say an island? How the hell did I get on an island?"

Sam was just doing some work in her hut--well, in her old hut, now that she mostly lived with Jack--when she realized there was another person in the room with her.

Someone who obviously hadn't just come in out of the rain, which meant she must be new.

"Hey, it's okay," Sam said, knowing that first moment of being on the island could be a shock. She slid her chair back from the makeshift desk, back from the laptop that had formerly been McKay's. "You're probably wondering where the hell you are. We all do."

Juliet is completely taken off guard, and she backs up a little, eying the woman warily.

"How did I get here?" she asks first, still a little dazed from waking up so suddenly and the dream she'd been having.

The other woman looked wary and disoriented, so Sam didn't make any sudden moves. She remembered her own arrival and how she'd nearly shot Jack on sight before she realized what was going on. "It's a kind of... pocket universe," she said. "An alternate dimension. It's kind of complicated. The main thing you should know is that you aren't in any danger."

"A...pocket...universe?" she repeats slowly. She finally steps forward, looking around at her surroundings. "How did I get here? I don't...I was asleep in my office and then..." She takes a deep breath, trying to calm down, especially with the heading of not being in any danger.

"Who are you?" It seems like the next logical question.

"Paul, have you seen my brown boots?" Tom called down from the upstairs bedroom when he heard someone moving around in their treehouse, on his knees with his head stuck half under the bed while he searched. In socks and jeans and no shirt, he'd gone searching, digging around in the mess that was Paul Helinski's bedroom and coming up short.

When he didn't get an answer, Tom straightened up, called down the stairs again, then, hearing a door open, he frowned and pushed to his feet, walking down the spiral staircase that led into the main level of their home. Halfway down, he froze, eyes widening at the sight of the pretty blond standing in his living room.

"Whoa, uh... Hi."

Juliet's really not all that into creeping through other people's houses, but she has no idea where she is or how she got there, so she's moving through the living room slowly. When someone calls out though, she freezes. Of course someone was home. And when he comes down to confront her, she offers a quick smile.

"Uh, hi. I woke up here...not sure where here is, really."

"It's uh, kind of my living room," he said, because yeah, maybe people appearing and disappearing on this island wasn't totally new, but having them appear in the middle of his house would never really seem normal.

"I didn't, you know, bring you here, if that's what it looks like. The whole waking up not knowing where you are thing, kind of happens a lot around here."

Juliet blinks a little. "Well, I didn't think that but now I am," she smirks. She's not, but joking is better than freaking out. "So, where exactly is here, other than your living room I mean? And why does this happen a lot?"
