When Felicity hadn't seen Trisha or even her things in her room at the homestead, she had tried to tell herself that she had simply moved out: perhaps Trisha had another place to live or visit, like she with New Atlantis. Between classes, she had tried to search for her, to listen in around the adults to see or hear if they knew of anything, but it was soon obvious that Patricia MacFarland had left the island and was back home.

That morning, Felicity had dressed for school (her first class for that morning was weaponry), but for once she didn't feel like attending. She had taken her books and took Penny on the pretense of going to the stables near the compound before school: it was a way to give the mare her morning exercise when her classes started early in the morning. Instead of going to the compound, Felicity maneuvered Penny to head toward the beach. Insightful as always to her mistress's feelings, the horse kept at a calm pace as they walked down the path.

Felicity dismounted from Penny when they arrived at the beach. She walked a bit and kicked at the sand  before she slumped onto the ground with her head in her hands, not caring if anyone were to scold her on her posture. Her books had fallen in a heap next to her, but she didn't care if anyone scolded her about not attending school either.

Why did Trisha have to go home, She thought angrily. Why her and not me.

She had been on this blasted island for little over six months, but this was the first time she ever really, truly felt homesick. Part of her wanted to find Jack or maybe even Coraline, while another knew she had to get back on her horse and go to school, but she couldn't bring herself to move.

Why should she even bother attending classes. It won't be like they would provide any real use back home in the 18Th century: no one back home asked girls about weapons, or geography, or rhetoric.

Penny nickered at her shoulder as though trying to reassure her and Felicity responded by reaching up and touching her head.

ooc: backdated to Thursday morning and Felicity's reaction to Trisha leaving the island. She and Penny are on the beach near Webster's dock. Despite appearances, she could use someone to talk to-or just feel free to scold her for skipping school. Slowtime and late tags are much loved.
