The months-long stalemate was finally over. Sure, Zoe would have appreciated it more if the bookshelf had given up the goods two days ago for maximum verbal punnage, but it was better late than never.
In her hands was what she had been after when she had wound up on this island. Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
What a perfect way to spend a few hours of her life.
Having danced around just a little bit when she had been certain no one had been looking too much in her general direction. Sliding the reel onto the projector, she settled down on the sofa and waited for it to finish rolling through the countdown. As soon as the intromusic started, she knew that she was in for a treat.
Or at least she was until some guy flopped down next to her just as the Lucasfilm emblem was up on the screen.
"Oh man, which one are we watching?" he asked, sounding a bit too eager. Zoe was all for Star Wars related enthusiasm but this was almost enough to make her miss the boys.
Almost.
"Episode one," she said giving him the hairy eyeball. An amused grin spread across his face at her answer.
"I love the part with the -- " He started before being silenced by Zoe holding up a hand. Frowning slightly he looked at her. "What?"
"Spoil it for me and I will smother you with a couch cushion."
Shrinking away from her slightly, the guy nodded slowly. "Okay. No spoilers, gotcha."
Satisfied that he would keep silent for at least the next ten minutes, she turned her head towards the screen just in time to see the beloved blue words on display.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…
God it gave her chills. Letting out a little squeal just as the fanfare started and the intro scrawl started creeping across the screen. It had been worth. It had been so worth it.
Or at least it better be. She wouldn't know what she was going to do if it wasn't, but she trusted George enough to not make a shit movie.
