Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday!
There was something different about the main path and the trail towards Delirium's treehouse. Something festive. Tied in the trees were brightly coloured ribbons and bits of fabric and animal shaped balloons (well, condoms but Delirium had been assured by Coraline that they worked just as well.) There were even coloured pebbles randomly scattered to show the way to what Delirium affectionately called her Asylum.
It was the twins birthday. They were one years old. One years old, healthy and happy and still in their (insane) mother's care. To Delirium, this was a great achievement and something that deserved to be celebrated. So she'd posted an invitation on the bulletin board and she'd made food and had food made and she'd tried to make her chaotic house and garden area into something a little more welcoming and party like.
Sitting with Celia, Delirium watched as Daniel grabbed Barnabas and pulled on his fur in his attempts to stand on his own two feet. Standing up Delirium clapped as he stood for a brief moment before wobbling and falling on his bottom. As he blinked solmenly, Delirium made a face at him and grinned as instead of crying her little boy began to laugh. Barnabas barked, nudging Daniel with his head as the small boy giggled and crawled over to his mother.
"I know Barnabas but they're only miniature humans. They can't help the grabby-pully thing and it's their birthday today, so we have to be extra- ow- nice." Delirium said as Daniel climbed all over his mother and pushed his little hands into her face. Picking Daniel up, she tossed him into the air before catching him and pulling him in for a hug. "You're my delight, you both make me so happy."
Delirium kissed Daniel's face, placing him down on the playmat as she smiled at Celia and kissed her forehead and tickled her sides. Brushing Celia's hair back, Del reached for Celia's birthday presents (a squishy squid with a scientist doll) and put them down infront of her watching with delight as she immediately pounced on it and began to pull and hug and gnaw on it.
"You're silly Cilly girl, don't forget scientists beat squids." Delirium said with a wide smile as she picked an escaping Daniel up and carried him over to the table heavily laden with food. She had decorations and entertainment and food and as soon as people arrived then they could have a real party! "At least this time there won't be demons crashing our party. I don't think there will be anyway. I didn't like them they made the guests all burn-y and owie. Shall we open a present little dreamer?"
