It had taken a least a week to construct a bow that worked, and even then it didn't work quite as well as she would have liked - but that might have been the lack of magic used in its construction. Still, Annabeth was dying to get some practice in, despite the fact that there was nobody around to practice with.
Good thing archery was a solitary sport.
Set up around the outskirts of the forest was a hand-painted target attached to one of the trees. Standing a measured twenty feet away from the target, she took the time to string her bow, a much smaller one than she would have used normally. Back at home, when she was a little bit stronger than your average teenaged girl.
The first arrow hit one of the rings near the center, but not quite near enough. She gritted her teeth in frustration before stringing another one. Years of Master's archery class, private lessons with Chiron and the Apollo kids and more had all added up to...that. All in all, pretty insulting.
She shot the next one, and even before the arrow left the string she knew where its target would be: the bullseye.
Annabeth smiled.
