I am exhausted. I've spent the past two days, scouting this entire place out. Zell was right. I couldn't get the crystal to work at all, but it was worth trying. I do have a new idea, but I can't do it by myself. And it definitely requires more planning

"Looks like cottages don't work here either. Sorry man," he said sympathetically. Squall looked even more tired and grumpier than the last time they'd met, so Riku made an effort to be civil. That and he knew Zell would have a fit if he got into a fight with Squall.

"Too bad," I say, sadly, though my tone of voice is probably pretty monotone at this point. I'm not sure what else could disappoint me.

"Yeah it is. I was hoping maybe it would be different for you, but I guess not. None of Zell's items work either." Riku glanced at the cottage on the ground. It looked just like the ones from his world. Yet another weird coincidence.
"Any luck trying to find a way off the island?" Riku doubted that Squall had been any more successful than the rest of the island's inhabitants, but he felt it was worth asking. Sooner or later someone had to figure out a way to get home, right?

"No way off the island, but I suspect you figured as much." It's not accusatory, just factual. "I do have an idea though."

"Well, since you're still here I figured you'd hadn't found a way to get home, no. Everybody's gotta try though, right?" He himself had spent several days trying to figure out how to open a Corridor before finally giving up.
"What idea is that?" Riku asked curiously. "Anything that might help us leave this place is worth trying."

"It's just an idea. I'll let you know if I think it has merit." I'd probably send Zell to fill him in honestly.
