They say he changes when the sun goes down...

When George had arrived on the island, one of his first thoughts had been about his transformations and how he was going to deal with them. Back home, he'd been able to contain it. Even for the few months that he hadn't been able to use the isolation room, at least there'd been some semblance of control. Some assurances that he wouldn't come across ( Read more... )

Angua stopped in her tracks, eyes widening as they took in the very naked figure of a strange man in her path.

She tried to hold in a smile.

"Goodness. That's..." Her gaze lowered. "Unexpected."

If only he'd waited five minutes less. If only he'd figured out that he wasn't going to change a little bit sooner, then he'd be walking past the woman on the path fully clothed instead of standing there in front of her fully not.

"Um...hello," He said, at a complete loss, and quickly covered himself with his hands.

"Hi there."

Angua couldn't help it, her entire expression broke into a wide grin. She quickly turned, giving the poor man his privacy.

"Go ahead, then. You have a change of clothing?"

"Yes." George said, instantly thankful that she'd at least turned around, even if she hadn't walked away as well, "Yes. I have a change of clothes."

He picked up his backpack and fished out his trousers, pulling them on at near lightning speed.

"I was-- I was just...I was waiting on someone?" He hadn't meant it to sound like a question, or so terribly unconvincing. But at least it sounded better than 'I thought I was going to transform into a giant wolf.'

Angua couldn't help herself, she really couldn't. It just wasn't every day that she came upon a naked man in the jungle, and bumbling over it at that.

She crossed her arms. "I'm with the IPD, you know, and public sex is...discouraged."

"Right. Well...I'll keep that in mind," He replied, nodding, then pulled his shirt over his head. "It won't happen again."

At least until next month. Maybe. George hadn't actually figured out what he was going to do yet. He'd transformed once when he wasn't supposed to, and then hadn't when he was supposed to, so maybe it only happened every other month on the island.

Either way, it was awful.

"You're not going to arrest me, are you?"

Angua laughed. "No," she said, glancing over her shoulder to see if it was dressed yet. She turned back around. "I was just giving you a hard time."

After all, it wasn't like she was completely innocent of jungle trysts, herself.

"I've had my fair share of unfortunate public nudity incidents,"* she even offered. "The embarrassment is punishment enough."

* Which had nothing to do with sex, by the way. There wasn't anything that was more of a turn off than Changing between forms.

"You're not wrong about that," He replied. He'd had his share of experiences with public nudity as well (all either before or after a change, of course), and they'd all been awkward on some level.

At least this woman was polite about it. Though it probably helped that he hadn't been caught trying to steal laundry off of her clothesline.

"I'm...I'm George. Hello." He extended a hand for her to shake, then thought better of it. "No, wait. You probably don't want to shake that."

"Angua," she said, putting a hand out. She paused, eyebrow raised. "Why, where has it been? No, nevermind, I don't want to know." She gave him a pat on the shoulder instead.

"So, George, are you very new here?"

"No-- no, it's only been..." He glanced down at where he'd been holding himself before, then thought better of it and shook his head, deciding that course of conversation was one better not explored.

"It's been a few weeks, so, I suppose. I'm still sort of settling in." From what he'd heard, some people had been around several years, so it was a comparatively short time.
