When George had arrived on the island, one of his first thoughts had been about his transformations and how he was going to deal with them. Back home, he'd been able to contain it. Even for the few months that he hadn't been able to use the isolation room, at least there'd been some semblance of control. Some assurances that he wouldn't come across anyone while he was transformed and accidentally hurt someone.
On the island, there were people everywhere, but what choice did he have? Get himself locked up for the night? He'd have a hell of time explaining that one in the morning. Not to mention, he couldn't be certain that the island police could actually keep the wolf caged. It was all too risky. Especially after suddenly changing without warning a few days prior. Unfortunately, he'd gotten all too used to waking up in the forest with no recollection of what had happened the night before, but he certainly hadn't had it happen when the full moon wasn't scheduled to happen for two days.
It'd been different, to say the least. Usually there was a build-up: days before, his senses sort of...opened up. Strength, hearing, vision...he didn't even wear his glasses when he was on the cusp of a change. But here, on the island, there was nothing. No warning, no feeling that there was something coming.
George honestly didn't know what he was going to do after tonight. He hadn't heard of anyone being attacked on Halloween, so he was certain that he hadn't hurt anyone, but it still wasn't something he was willing to chance. He'd have to find some place more permanent. Someplace safe. No matter how different it may have seemed, a change was a change.
That day, he'd found a backpack in the box of clothes in the compound and had filled it with the essentials: bananas, a spare set of clothes, and now, the set of clothes he'd been wearing before he'd gone into the jungle.
And now, after more than two hours standing there in the jungle naked, George was beginning to become confused. There he was, staring up at the full moon...and nothing. Not a twinge. He was just starting to think that maybe he could just head back to the compound. He wasn't sure exactly what he'd do after that, but as far as tonight was concerned, it looked as though nothing was going to happen.
He'd just stood up to start getting dressed and head back, when someone walked through the brush.
