Terry will never understand the appeal behind American football, but baseball-- now there's a sport.

When Rogue had told her about putting a team together and asked her to be on it, Terry hadn't hesitated. It's nice, getting everyone together (well, when everyone shows up) for practices, and reminds her that no matter what, they're all on the same playing field. None of them are any better than anyone else anymore, not even his royal flaming highness Johnny Storm, who is currently trying not to flirt with Terry, after she'd accidentally beaned him.

Twice.

She'd made her way to the baseball field out of boredom, mostly, intending on catching some television in the rec center if nothing of interest popped up, but it had. Devon and Johnny had been tossing a ball around, but now it was Johnny and Terry, with Devon gone inside to talk to someone.

"But no, seriously, how do you fly?" Johnny's asking again, and Terry rolls her eyes as she adjusts the brim of her cap again before tossing the ball back to him a little harder than she intends.

It goes flying over Johnny's head, and for a moment, she knows there's one thing in common between them very few other people will ever understand. The way he crouches a little too much before extending a hand out as he jumps, the split second hesitation and faltering-- she recognizes it all. It's happened to her more than a few times, but she does him the favor of pretending not to notice.

She isn't the only one here having to live without her powers anymore.

"It's more like I coast," she explains, pulling her glove off for a bit of a break. "Like how your sister 'flies' by riding invisible shields, or whatever? I fly on sound."

"Coast, sure," Johnny says as he scoops up the ball and comes walking back. "So it's not like real flying, then."

"Johnny, if you weren't on my team right now I'd come over there and beat you to death with this glove."

"...right." Terry gives him a pleasant smile, glad her point's come across. "Ten minute break?"

"That'll be nice."

"Don't miss me too much," he calls back as he jogs toward the rec center.

Terry groans and half-heartedly tosses her glove at his retreating back.
