Happy birthday to me, I'm a hundred and three...

Aug 27, 2009 12:48

It was Elliot's birthday today. The second birthday she'd spent on the island, and the first one she'd spent without JD.

She didn't remember this straight away when she woke up - too busy going through the motions of everyday island life, such as feeding the rabbit JD, hiking up to the Compound for such necessities as a shower and food. It wasn't until she went into the rec room and the jukebox started playing 'Happy Birthday' that she actually realized, hey, it was her birthday.

I wish I was happy about it.

Thirty-two and counting, she thought miserably as she sank into a threadbare armchair. Thirty-two and what did she have to show for it? A hut on a mysterious island where people randomly fell asleep and hallucinated, body-switching, dinosaurs, squid attacks...not exactly prime real estate. Oh, and a rabbit. A big fat rabbit with possible thyroid problems.

And she was thirty-two. Well past her uterus's use-by date, at least according to her mother. There was one small consolation, at least - her mother wasn't actually here to be actively ashamed of her, but she was sure she was getting some cosmic waves of disapproval from somewhere.

The jukebox played on and Elliot sang along, brokenly, out of tune and out of key. "Happy birthday to meeeee-" Her voice broke and she segued into a coughing fit.

I'm getting old.

[OOC: Despite appearances, it's a good time to meet her. Come tell the neurotic blonde doctor she isn't old. Or do! xD]
