Buck's not exactly sure what to make of this shindig. Everyone seems pleased and he's pretty sure he might have seen familiar faces (but even that's a lost cause seeing as everyone's dressed up in their own strange little fare and the masks aren't helping). He's starting to think they ought to do a 'flash' 'thunder' method of greeting, but he just shakes his head and laughs ruefully at the thought.
Enjoying the party is the next option and he's got a healthy glass of alcohol in his hand, so he's getting started on a good night.
Saffron didn't even bother with a greeting when she saw Buck. She just went right up to him, smiled seductively from beneath her butterfly-like mask as her arms went around his neck, and laid one on him, a nice good one. If he couldn't figure out who she was by the way she kissed, Saffron was going to need to refresh her skill in leaving an impression.
Buck's really not going to complain about this party if it's the kind where he just needs to stand around and it gets him kissed like that. And hell, it's been a while since they've been kissing like that, but it's still stuck in his mind enough that he becomes a supplicant in the kiss before easing away and grinning dazedly. "I'm pretty sure that's not how most people say hello," he drawls.
"I'm not most people," Saffron murmured, a little bit giddy herself on account of it had been some time since she'd kissed Buck good and proper. All it took was that one for her to remember how much she enjoyed it. "Interested in winning a token from this fairy queen?"
"And just what kind of feats would I have to perform to win such a token?" Buck wonders, only a little suspicious because he's already seen a couple of strange things and he's been wondering how much the fairy court's been involved in that.
Not that he's afraid to live it up. Just suspicious.
She thought about it for a moment, plucking his glass from his hand and taking a sip as she did. "I'd like for you to get up on that stage and sing my praises," she said, gesturing toward the nearby stage. "You don't have to literally sing, unless you want to. Just talk about how much you adore me."
"I'm really not so sure what part of that is supposed to be a hardship, Helen," Buck smoothly replies. He may have experienced his ups and downs, but he definitely remembers how he's supposed to charm a woman. "Am I allowed to talk about all the naughty things you do to me?"
"Well," Saffron replied, after another sip, "you've really only experienced a fraction of the naughty things I could do to you." She winked up at him playfully. "But sure, I'll allow it."
Buck's lips quirk and he takes her palm to press a kiss to her knuckles and bows his head. "You've got my word that I'll go on up there and extoll your virtues until I've horrified a good number of the crowd," he promises. "So long as you promise me no jealous boyfriend is going to come pummel me."
Buck really was such a charmer, which Saffron loved. "I promise," she said, even as she led him by the hand up onto the stage. "Tonight is all about letting go of inhibitions and enjoyment to its fullest." Besides, she didn't think her boyfriend was even there.
Buck lets out a quiet laugh at that and kisses her cheek just before he figures he's about to let loose on the wolves. "Promise to patch me up if I don't make it through unharmed?" he quips with a broad grin back in her direction.
"Hey!" Sonya had an easy time rushing over to the man, given that her once long dress now only reached a few inches above her knees, a mask covering the top half of her face. She was smiling and had to suppress the urge to giggle (where did that even come from). "This is one hell of a party."
Buck's only a little surprised by the enthusiasm, but he supposes that at parties like these, it's only a natural thing. He tempers down his smile and looks calmly at the woman, trying to place her and it only takes another moment before he realizes that he knows her from around the Homestead. "You definitely seem to be having one hell of a good time," Buck observes playfully.
Sonya nodded. "Haven't felt this good in ages, maybe something in the food?." She looked at his drink. "That stuff making you feel mellow?" Could be the drinks, could be the food-frankly, Sonya didn't really care.
Buck feels fairly well, but he'd eaten before he turned up to the party and has only been imbibing liquor at a slow rate. He's not exactly Nixon or Harry Welsh when it comes to drinking and when it comes to his larger body, it takes ages and a day to metabolize. "Me? Always," he agrees with a broad grin. "And who are you under the mask?"
Enjoying the party is the next option and he's got a healthy glass of alcohol in his hand, so he's getting started on a good night.
