"Let me guess," he said slowly. "You're hunting wabbits?"
His lips curled slightly, and he was smirking as he stepped a little closer. "Maybe a roadrunner or two?"

Snorting softly, he watched the other man move the bolder before leaning lightly against one of the nearby trees. "Seriously though, what's with the trap?" he asked, not bothering to introduce himself as he pried into the stranger's business.

"They're good for testing your reflexes," he added after a pause.

Pushing away from the tree, he wandered a little closer to examine the trap. It was about then that Linus finally caught up, the large Golden retriever bounding over and skidding to a stop as Logan snapped his fingers and pointed at the ground. The animal stopped on command, sitting down almost instantly, though he was practically vibrating with excitement, tail swishing as watched the other man, clearly eager to great him and beg for food and attention.
Apparently the dog was finally tired of chasing birds.

When Linus approached him, Cable looked at him questionably for a moment before reaching out with his flesh and blood right hand to pet his head.
"Nice dog," he remarked to Logan as he did so.

"Linus, knock it off," Logan said, watching as the dog sank back down. "He's a good dog, but- I dunno, sometimes I think he honestly believes everyone around here is carrying food just for him. He's going to end up a fat dog the way he eats and begs."
Linus was oblivious to his master's concerns though, and his tongue hung out a little as he sat back down and offered his paw. When all else failed, offering his paw usually got him something.

So when Linus offered him his paw, he just gave him a long look and then turned back to Logan.
"There are worse flaws than optimism," he replied. "Even when it's misplaced."

"I wouldn't know," Logan replied. "I've never been optimistic."
Wandering closer to the trap, he reached out as if he might touch it, before drawing his hand back and slipping it into his pocket. "So why do you need to test reflexes? If this for the ITF or something? I thought they just ran around and did push-ups and target practice."

"It's bad form to kill someone during training," he elaborated dryly. "I could get disbarred."
