Squidplot 3

Temperance Brennan would consider it a testament to her great and really, epic love for her husband that she was allowing this baby shower to happen. After all, John had his own deep love for traditions, and apparently there were some strange ones surrounding the birth of children.

Of course she knew better than that-- but as with most cultural events about family, or at least cultural events pertaining to family that would have affected her within her milieu, she had let herself forget everything but the bits and pieces, which were glued back together with anthropology and facts. The affair itself was not terribly large, leading her to wonder for a moment if they had become a couple that was more and more self-sufficient, ie, not needing other people so much.

But then there was a game starting and it involved a diaper, and Temperance edged further and further away, choosing to reflect on how sweet it had been of John to place the party so close to one of their digging sites for the pygmy remains and artifacts. Looking at the large hole was immensely calming, if not probably symbolic of something.

What was that, in the water?

Temperance walked, or if one was going to be correct about it, waddled over to the edge of the surf, and after a few seconds of struggling, picked it up. A fragment of something, looking familiar, like from a grenade. It was so worn, beyond the fact that it had been used, that it had to have washed to shore. And look, there was a strange substance that had been cooked on it at one point.

She lifted it to her nose and sniffed.

Calamari?

Several things happened at once then, but all Temperance was really aware of was that as she looked up at the impossibly large collossal squid as it loomed over the beach, as a tentacle too small to belong to it but had to belong to something smaller wrapped around her leg, that there was water running down her thigh.

"John," she said, shaking off what looked to be one of many, many squid, "my water's broken. I'll be needing to have the baby now."

[OOC: This is your squidpost! Tag in as you want, gathering style, and see this post for more details, or IM me or Sarah. Even if you didn't get a squid marked as your own for kill or capture, it's still fine to have one attack your pup and be flung back into the fray. I'll be in and out most of the evening, have fun!]
