"Holy shit, you got two of 'em now?" Joe asked as he approached, his head tipped to the side as he studied the new chocobo. It was still pretty fucking weird for him to see these things, but he'd gotten used to Cloud, even if he still outright refused to ride the damn thing. "When did this happen?"

"Just now, I guess," Yuffie said. She was just accepting things showing up now, so there was no surprise that magically Joe was there too. "That's weird. But weird is in, I guess."

She hopped up and whistled for them to come over. Cloud's response was immediate, the other one taking a few moments to catch on.

"Everything in this place is fucking weird," Joe pointed out with an amused grin, watching the two of them. "So does it come pre-named or do you have to give it a name? And, hey, how do you tell if these things are boys or girls?"

"You look for the dangly bits, just like with anything," Yuffie said, and flounced over to check the collar. "Nope, no name. I'll have to think about it. Unless you're gonna let me call it Captain Joe McGeezerpants."

"You can call it whatever the fuck you wanna call it," Joe answered with a laugh, following Yuffie over to the black chocobo. "You think it'd like being called Captain Joe, though? I mean, that's a hell of a name to live up to, isn't it?"

"Depends on if I breed it with Cloud," Yuffie said. "Then I might call it something else that'll especially piss him off. Um, the person Cloud. If you like silent, broody people, you oughta meet him."

She began to peer under the birds, checking them.

"One person can only handle so much brooding," Joe said, looking under the birds as well, trying to see whatever Yuffie was looking for. "So how do you breed 'em? Just stick 'em together in a room and hope they get along?"

"You dipshit," she said. "I have to make sure they're not both dudes. Hey, wanna ask it if it's gay? Don't you guys have some kind of radar and identification system? Is it interspecies?"

...uh-oh. Things down there were not matching up.

"First, I'm not gay, I'm an equal opportunist," Joe answered, smirking. "Second, I'm pretty sure liking guys doesn't mean you come with a radar, but if you think it'll help, I'll ask."

Circling around, he looked at the bird and asked, "Hey? You like guys?"

"Kweh," answered the chocobo, noncommittally.

Yuffie popped her head back up, looking perplexed. "What'd it say? Gay or not?"

"Straight as a fucking arrow," Joe answered, although he really had no idea what the damn thing had said either way. "Aren't you glad you've got me around to ask your birds shit like that?"

"Yeah," Yuffie said, and continued to press her lips together in a firm line. "Well, and I'm gonna kick your ass if you make fun of this, it would appear I was wrong. About... which one is which."

"What do you mean?" Joe asked, looking at her. "You mean Cloud's not really a dude? Cloud's actually a girl? I thought you said it was easy, just look for the dangly parts."

[wutaiheart]

"Well, these are more dangly than the other ones," Yuffie said. "I don't know, I didn't go 'round scoping out chocobo dick all day!" She resisted the urge to imply he would be more comfortable doing so.

"Uh-huh," Joe answered, looking at both the birds again before he gave a helpless sort of shrug. "Maybe one's just bigger than the other. Y'know, he's the well endowed friend everyone fucking hates. I don't know how these things work."
