A guy like that doesn't dream about a girl like me.
It's been more than a year, and just like that, it's over. Jen left the one guy she thought might truly be her soulmate sitting alone at a bar in Morro Bay, waiting with a white rose for his Ladybuggger to appear. She knows, though, what would have happened if she had approached him - disappointment on his part, covered with stiff politeness, and her with her heart broken. Jen never in a million years expected him to be that good looking.
Well, it doesn't matter, because her heart's broken anyway, and Fuzzzy will probably never want to speak to her again now that she stood him up. Tish and Piper are being amazingly supportive, and now more than ever Jen is grateful for their friendship, even if she's positive neither of them can truly understand what just happened. They're both beautiful, and Jen is just…not. Beautiful girls don't have to worry about getting ignored, or looked through as though they're invisible.
Tish pulls the Causemobile up behind the Grill, where Trucker is wrestling with the door, and once the van stops Jen slides open the back door and climbs out. She's been holding it together pretty well on the drive home, but once she sees Trucker with his arms open and that look - not of pity but of compassion - Jen breaks down again. He wraps her in his arms as she cries, her face buried in his neck, and she's so caught up in her sorrow that she doesn't notice the shift, that she's suddenly hugging someone else instead of Trucker and that she's no longer in Santa Cruz at all.
[Congratulations, your pup is suddenly being hugged by Clea DuVall! You can be anywhere on the island, except dino territory. XD Traditional debut, open to new tags through Monday.]
