Aeris knew it was going to be a wonderful day from the moment she woke. The rain was pouring outside, and she had found a wonderful new outfit in the clothing box. The sound of the rain was akin to a living, breathing static, that blurred out the silence of the island, and brought every little detail of it to life. She had waited at first, to make ( Read more... )

Zack smiled at her from under a tree, his arms folded across his chest. There wasn't much reprieve from the rain there, but it gave the illusion of cover. He'd been watching her dance around for a short while after coming upon her on his way to some place else.

"The feeling is mutual," he shouted to her over the rhythm of the rain. He really was happy, though maybe not enough that he would dance in the middle of the boardwalks. He'd need a bit more convincing for that.

While she turned quickly in surprise, she did not start. She was in much too good a mood to jump. She grinned when she registered the familiar voice to be Zack, and waved.

"It's so lovely."

"Yes it is. It doesn't remind me of anything from home."

"This is a new start." He looked past her to watch the rain with a smile on his face. It was a new start. No one had died this time.

She grinned, spinning in a circle once more. The fabric of her dress managed to spin out around her, despite its waterlogged state. "New and exciting! I've never seen rain like this."

"Rain like this? How is different?" he asked. He gave a courtesy glance to the falling rain as though the answer might be revealed just by watching the raindrops fall. The answer, of course, wasn't to be found quite so easily so he turned his attention back to the happy girl.

"It's so...full and lively! I've only ever been in rain showers before. This is different." She smiled, and shrugged. "The adventure around the Planet didn't last that long. I suppose if it had, I would have seen rain like this."

He nodded, uncrossing his arms and taking a few steps down toward her. So it wasn't that this particular rain was special. It was just special for her. He could relate to that.

"You miss that adventure," he stated. He was trying to move on from the past and part of that was acknowledging that things had changed for her.

She gave a slim smile and a nod, before spinning in a circle once more. "But this entire place is one grand adventure as well! Who knows what will happen next?"

He nodded and looked back up at the rain. He closed his eyes, letting the rain fall down his face. For a moment, he was reminded of the same feeling when he'd been dying. As he had lain in a pool of his own blood. Trouble was it wasn't a sad moment so much as a proud moment. And now, he opened his eyes again, he was still alive. He almost felt like dancing in the rain too.

It was a quiet moment, but it wasn't silent. The rain provided a static that made relative quiet all right. It was still worth dancing to a tune playing that only she could hear.

"I want to find something to climb and look over this all with."

Zack thought about it for a moment. "Well you can climb one of these trees, but they're tough enough to climb when they are slick with rain. You could go to the large waterfall. There's a great view there." It was offer to take her there if she wanted to go.
