It was once said that time healed all wounds.
Menander and Chaucer and their ilk were welcome to their delusions. In truth, the only healer was death, and at times, even that was not enough. Oh yes, there were ways to lessen and to numb--he'd wasted half a century drinking so much he'd lost decades. It was not so difficult as one might think, when you didn't age. But in the end, it never really did go away.
Not even by traveling to a remote island, literally, in the middle of nowhere, could he be rid of Hiro. Of his idealistic speeches and selective moralities. He ought to have killed Hiro the day he met him, and claimed he vanished. It would probably have caused him less trouble than letting the delusional man run around proclaiming his every sin.
Time healed nothing. Nor did pronouncing 'blank slates'. It was a naive, fool's dream. It would hardly be the first time he found opposition. He had won Peter over unwaveringly despite Robert Bishop's tight grip on him. Adam had much more experience than Hiro--if he sought a war, he would find himself cast off the island long before Adam felt any serious repercussions. After all, Hiro didn't know how to play by the rules--he only knew how to spit out rehearsed lines and hope his passion sent people running.
In the long run, their influence always crumbled to those who could play the game and those who outlived the rest.
But such musing was unnecessary just now. Hiro had yet to indicate any such thing...and who would suspect someone like Adam of attempted genocide? Or...whatever Hiro came up with.
For now, Adam reclined on the grassy hill near his hut, staring up at passing clouds. It was quiet and calm, and his necklace of rings was a grounding weight on his chest. The sword and his jacket lie just to his side, easily within reach should someone approach. Today, he could let time pass him by, and let another day of Hiro's time on the island tick away.
[OOC: He's in a decent enough mood, and open to talking to anyone--familiar or no. Set all daylight of Friday. ST/LT Welcome.]
