The human mind is a very delicate, complicated organ. It makes its own time and establishes its own rules -- If it is not ready for you know something, no manner of huffing and puffing and general frustration will induce it otherwise. Sometimes, you have to examine the pieces of a puzzle for awhile before they fit.

For weeks, Klaus had been contemplating the various pieces of the puzzle of Samara's abduction. He had read 16 books on criminal investigation, 7 on kidnapping and 4.5 on dreams (The .5 had ended up being some rubbish on reincarnation.) He had made lists in his head and on paper. He had stared at maps of the island, trying to link the location of the well to something else. Still, he felt as if he were getting absolutely nowhere, and it was likely only his stubborn nature that was keeping him so dedicated to the cause.

His mind kept coming back to Samara's dreams. Anna had been in them. Not her mother, Anna, but Anna who was Jane. There was something about that he couldn't quite grasp, something that constantly niggled at the back of his brain but had yet to take proper shape. He was halfway to the Compound in search of an early lunch when it finally hit him, and the revelation was enough to stop him dead in his tracks and send him reeling back a step.

Jane. Jane had been abducted. By Voldemort. Voldemort was dead. But there hadn't been a body. No confirmation, just educated assumptions.

Heart pounding furiously in his ears, Klaus took off at a breakneck speed for the Compound and the IPD offices as everything finally fell neatly into place within his mind. If Voldemort was still alive, that meant he was out there on the island right now.
