"...Are you stoned?" Hunter asked accusingly as he hopped up onto the trampoline. He'd been just chilling and he'd heard the giggles in the familiar voice, so of course he'd come to investigate. "Is there any left?"
Micheal lifted his head and grinned at Hunter. "Would you think less of me if I was?" his words burst into giggles at the end, unable to help himself. "Nah, just finished it. "
"Pssh. No." Hunter flopped next to him, making a face. "But you coulda shared, dude." Not that he thought that was fucking likely, but...he wouldn't mind being stoned right then, either.
"Didn't know I was going to have company." He teased back. Of course, normally he wouldn't even haven't considered the idea, but right now, he didn't care.
"I'll just have to find my own then, I guess," Hunter challenged, staring up at the sky. He knew Ben was gone, too, but he wasn't sure what to say about it. It hurt. He wasn't sure if it hurt Michael nearly as bad as it hurt him, and he wasn't sure he wanted to find out.
"Get it Brian. You'll know it's safe." He says off-handedly, which he never would have said otherwise, but he meant it.
He playfully nudged Hunter's shoulder with his. "How are you?" In his stoned haze, he knew why he was out here wanting to dull his hurt, and Hunter had to be the same. "This disappearing thing sucks." Says dully despite his earlier giggling.
Hunter snorted. "Right. Like Brian Kinney is just gonna hand me some fuckin' weed," he grumbled, but he made a mental note to ask, anyway.
He sighed at Michael's question and shrugged. "Yeah, it sucks," he agreed softly, then looked at Michael, his expression cautious as he added, "But at least you're still here..."
Micheal turned to Hunter, and even stoned, he gave the other a genuine smile. "Yeah. You too." Then he nudged his shoulder again. "This island isn't getting rid of us that easy." Or so he hoped. For all he knew, Hunter was the next one for the island to take away...but he wasn't thinking about that, the weed wouldn't let him.
"Yeah right. Like Brian's ever gonna leave you. D'you rememb--oh." Hunter paused, glancing away. "No, I guess you don't." He shrugged, wishing he hadn't reminded himself that this wasn't his Michael, even though they'd come a long way since Michael had arrived. He didn't remember anything from back home; the hearing that kept him out of his cunt of a mother's custody, the clusterfuck at school after the swim meet, the bomb that brought him home after he'd taken off to Disneyworld, Michael and Ben wanting to adopt him...this Michael hadn't lived any of that yet.
Micheal was familiar with that look. This wasn't the first time this had happened during a conversation with Hunter. Through his drunk haze, he felt a hint of pity? No...compassion. It was always in the back of his mind, even as addled as it was now, that Michael hoped he could live up to the father Hunter knew. Not sure what to say, he reached over and just put a hand on Hunter's leg and squeezed in support.
With another shrug, Hunter tried to move past it. "Anyway. I'm still here, Brian's still here." And maybe Ben would come back. It had happened before, he knew, but he wasn't gonna count on it. That was a good way to be disappointed, after all. "And you're still here," he added with a small smile.
Micheal smile didn't change but his eyes did. He sobered up a bit at that. "Yeah..." He said in a voice that clearly showed how much he wasn't sure how he felt about that anymore.
Hunter saw the change, and tried not to take it personally. He kind of sucked at it, though. "I mean...I know this place blows, but whatever. We'll probably all end up home again sooner or later, right?" he mumbled, looking away.

Suddenly, he could feel the weed wearing off and the nothing going away...it wasn't a fun feeling.
