There was a Colonial tent in New Atlantis.

Sharon was immediately certain it was meant for her. No one else in NA was from the Colonies, if she could even be counted as such. Although she was sure the tent was a gift to her, it was Hera who ran off to explore it first, disappearing inside.

"Hera," Sharon called, scolding, because who knew what ( Read more... )

Teyla looked curiosly at the machine in the middle of New Atlantis. The shape reminded her of a wraith dart more than anything else, and for a moment she had worried seeing Sharon and Hera outside of it. When she realised the marking were nothing she knew and that Sharon looked pleased with it, she relaxed.

"Is it a ship from your world?"

Sharon turned and smiled to Teyla. "Oh, yeah. It's not one of my people's," she made sure to add. "But I'm familiar with them anyway." It was...hard to explain, she realized.

Hera babbled something toddlerish to Teyla which probably meant hello.

"Does it fly?" Teyla crouched down to Hera's level with a smile, and could only think that if it did fly that John would be happier than he had been in a very long time.

Hera raised her arms to be picked up. "Uppy," she said, to make herself just that much more clear.

"No, it's a Sim. Ah, a flight simulator. Do they have any in Atlantis?" Sharon asked, before going into an explanation.

Teyla put her arms around Hera, lifting her easily as she stood again.

"I believe there was something of the sort. For training others to fly the puddlejumpers." Teyla walked closer, considering the thing carefully. "Simulated flight. I believe many will be excited at the prospect."

Sharon hadn't considered that yet, but she realized just then that at least Starbuck and John might like it, too, and that was even better than how much she would enjoy it. "Yeah...hey, and if you want to use it you're more than welcome. Did you pilot any of those puddlejumpers back home?"

"No. I did not have the gene that was required for it." In fact her wraith gene would have inhibited it. "I do not think I had quite the enthusiasm for flight as John did either."

Sharon's eyebrows rose a moment. There was a gene required to fly where John came from?

"Motion sickness?" she guessed.

"No," She smiled, switching Hera to her other hip to better balance the weight of the child. "I simply saw it as a means of transportation. getting from one point to another. For John it was always an adventure."

Hera didn't mind, she was too busy trying to play with Teyla's hair.

Sharon smiled wryly. "It was like that for me, too, but now...now it would be an adventure."

Teyla hardly noticed. One of the things she'd missed on Atlantis was the lack of children. She was used to her people always having children about, and being involved in their lives.

"It is a very good thing you have been given it then. Though you may have to pry John out of it to use it at times."
