Alice's hut near the waterfall now looked mostly like a hut, as opposed to a pile of stick. She was happy, if only to have a place to store her stuff - though she really didn't have a lot of stuff to begin with. Clothes, her kukris, her guns, and that was it. Not that she minded. Too much stuff could really weigh you down, and it made traveling next to impossible. Still, she remembered how pissed she'd been when she'd accidentally trashed her bike, losing a lot of stuff in the process.

And now...well, she'd woken up that morning to find a bulky package on her - for lack of a better word - doorstep, with no idea where it had come from or who had put it there. It had her name written on it in impersonal block letters.

Now, Alice was a naturally suspicious person. She'd not only look a gift horse in the mouth, but examine its teeth, hooves and tail, too. So it was with extreme caution that she picked up the package and checked to see if it was ticking. It wasn't, so she opened it.

Half an hour later, she was standing on the beach holding her brand-new crossbow, ten coconuts lined up on the sand some ways away. Two of them had bolts sticking out of their husks. A moment later, after she fired at the third, it exploded with a pok and sent shards of coconut flying.

Alice grinned to herself.

Some stuff was definitely worth having.
