"I'm going outside. I'm going to try and find some help."
Jo had done everything she could in here. The Doctor clearly wasn't well: his body temperature was below zero and his hearts were barely beating. She didn't know what else to do and all he had told her was to record everything, which didn't seem to be much practical help.
"Scanner, scanner," she said to herself as she searched for the right button. She knew better by now than to go racing out into who knew what. She found it at last and flicked the switch up.
The screen showed her a jungle of strange alien plants and some bits of broken statue near the TARDIS. It didn't look like they had landed anywhere useful, but she hoped there wasn't too much jungle to walk through to find someone who would be able to help the Doctor.
As she watched, the scanner was hit by a black liquid that must have come from one of the plants. She bit her lip, not sure whether it was harmful or whether she really wanted to go out in that at all. It wasn't as if she had a choice about going out there anyway, and turned the scanner off, deciding she'd rather not know any more.
She pulled on the coat that she'd left on the console and went over to check on the Doctor again. Leaning over him, one hand on his icy cold chest, she said, "Doctor, I'm going now. I'll be back as soon as I can." He gave no sign that he heard her, but it made Jo feel a little better to have told him. By the time she reached the door she also had her mittens on: the readout had told her it was night and cold outside.
It was only when she had closed the door after her and turned around that she discovered something was not right. Instead of the jungle she had been expecting, the place had the green grass of Earth and was pleasantly warm: enough so that she no longer needed the coat. After putting the mittens in the pockets, she shrugged off the coat and dug around for the log recorder, which was now buried in the right pocket.
"I think there's something wrong with the scanner because it's not a jungle out here at all. It's a summer's day and I don't know what planet it is at all." She rather hoped the Time Lords had taken them to Earth because at least it was home with people she knew, even if they didn't know any more than her about healing the Doctor. But she knew from experience that first appearances could be deceptive and even if this was Earth, there was no telling what time period it might be.
She could at least see buildings, and buildings meant life and someone who could help. Putting the log recorder back in her coat pocket, she set off towards it, hoping that this wasn't an abandoned place.
OOC: Just in case it's not entirely clear, Jo's landed outside the Doctor's TARDIS on the island. And hasn't quite worked out that it's not the one she left...
Don't know exactly how everyone else defines ST & LT but any time this month you want to start a thread is fine by me.
