could've walked around the block 'cause all roads lead to home

Ando had been settling in really quite well. He didn't have very many friends outside of the people he already knew, but when had he needed more than Hiro? Too many friends spread one's attention too thin and well, yeah. Despite Ando's eternal quest to be popular and well liked, he had at least one foot firmly rooted in the reality of what he could handle. That didn't, of course, mean that he didn't want more friends, because he really did. He especially wanted a girlfriend, but Ando wasn't about to push his luck. Part of him was still holding out hope for Hiro's sister to show up and he could rescue her from dinosaurs or...or something equally maddening and dangerous.

He hadn't been much of a Hero on Halloween, but he reasoned that it was all right given the fact that all he had to be a hero with was a large stick he'd found in the surf and he didn't think that the old saying about carrying a big stick would really work against some of the impossible things he'd seen during his time here so far. The Gundam fight was by far the scariest and most awesome and made Ando feel like a big nerd for being excited about seeing it.

Ando was walking along the path, glumly dragging his large stick behind him when he caught something out of the corner of his eye. Wedged between two stones was his sword. His sword. The one he'd gone after...

Ando's jaw dropped and he took an unsteady step backwards. "How the...," he asked nobody in particular. Carefully, he wiggled the sword loose and turned it over in both hands. Too little too late, he thought. "I could've really used you last week," he commented dryly. He didn't feel like a Hero, holding the sword. He felt like a fool and a coward and someone who didn't trust his best friend. Ando frowned and wondered how much work it would take for him to wash the stigma free of the sword. The one time he'd decided to do something really brave, he'd failed and Hiro had to...

He closed his eyes tightly and his fists tightened around the sword.

This was, in short, not fair.

[ooc: open to any and all, actually an okay time to meet him even if he is feeling a little like a self-depricating sidekick. st/lt welcome]
