These days it felt like every day Anne got more and more heavily pregnant. Though once her days had been more outdoors than in, these days she wasn't pushing herself so hard to do all the chores herself. She had plenty of help, after all, and though she enjoyed her time with the animals and in the garden, she was content to make do with a little bit less of it once she began to tire. No animal was going to go untended or unloved because Anne herself might not be present to do all of the work, and her time was likely better spent on less taxing tasks, such as tending the eggs that were now just on the cusp of hatching.

Being indoors allowed her more time in the Council office, where Anne always felt quite productive both being available as a responsible member of the Island Council and also using the time to be better prepared for the next school term (though to be perfectly honest, Anne did tend to slip a book or two in there that had little to do with anything she was planning to teach). In fact, Anne had already finished drawing up some lesson plans based on how her classes had gone the previous term, and was just beginning to put together a reading list for her older students.

Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Keats, Kerouac... oh, there were so many options to be considered.
