Clay Busby had always been sort of stage-shy, but he'd also been a Romeo, a Casanova, a smooth guy in his youth. He'd play the piano in New Orleans cat houses and sometimes, he'd danced out on the levy with girls who played harmonicas better than he did, girls with eyepatches and babies swelling under worn red dresses.
The jukebox had been trilling the same song at him all week long, and Clay couldn't help but pick up the words.
He leant into the mic, and crooned the first line.
"Hey, Uncle Louie, I wrote you a song...I'm glad you got your heart out of pawn. I'm glad you got your king out of check...least that's how things stood when I saw you last. It was New Orleans before the flood..."
Clay had been thinking more and more about the wedding, so maybe he was practicing a song for then.
Clay had always been sort of stage shy, but there wasn't anyone near the stage as Clay danced a soft shoe shuffle and swung the standing microphone into a dip.
"It was New Orleans, before the flood..."
ooc: Harry Connick Jr singing on the stage? Kind of making a fool of himself? Great time to meet him. For the record, the song Clay is singing is OUT OF PAWN by Anais Mitchell.
