Geoffrey isn't rehearsing today, but that doesn't mean he's not working out at the stage anyway. There's a lot to be done and not all of it directly has to do with the actors. In fact, quite a bit of it doesn't and it's that quite a bit Geoffrey is trying to tackle as he paces back and forth on the stage.
"It's all wrong, you know," says Oliver, leaning against the stairs to the balcony.
Geoffrey has been ignoring him for the fifteen minutes since he appeared, and plans to continue to ignore him for a long as he possibly can. Even if he's right.
"You can't stage the wedding scene that way. No one will see your Hero."
"Yes, I know that," mutters Geoffrey, and tries to convince himself he's not actually answering.
"And that just defeats the entire purpose of the scene, especially considering the amount of work you've put in with the two of them. It's admirable, Geoffrey. Really. Are you sure there isn't something else going on there? A little crush maybe?"
"Don't be ridiculous," snaps Geoffrey. "They're children."
"Oh, we're talking to me now, are we?" says Oliver, pushing himself away from the stairs and sauntering to where Geoffrey has paused at the edge of the stage. "No, not a crush then, neither one of them's your type, if your recent activities are any indication. Something else then."
"I'm their director, Oliver," says Geoffrey. "I'd like to think I'm being a good one."
"Ah," says Oliver, like he's just had a revelation. "You miss it, Geoffrey."
"I'm a lot happier doing what I'm doing now, and you know it."
"No, you're a lot safer doing what you're doing now," says Oliver, doing all but physically prodding him. "You miss it. You miss when that was you and Ellen commanding the director's full attention. You miss the stage."
"I don't miss the stage," says Geoffrey, turning his back on him and scrunching his face in a failed effort not to make any expression at all. "I'm on the damn stage."
Bloody ghosts. They think they know everything.
[ooc: open to all! as always, oliver exists only inside geoffrey's head and is not actually there]
