Easter Mass

Callahan wasn't sure how many people to expect at the church, but if there was one thing he'd learned in his years working in a small parish, there were two days of the year that people felt obligated to seek out God, and today was one of them.

He waited until everyone seemed comfortable and there didn't seem to be anyone else filing in, and began to speak. "Welcome, everyone. It is such a blessing to see you all here today, and again, truly a testament that God can find his way into the most remote places. From wherever we've come from, we are all here together now, and safe and loved on this Easter morning, and for that we say thankya."

"I recognize many of you as Catholics, and am sure that more still are Christians, but I hope that there are even some here who are not, and perhaps simply curious to hear the story. Because of the story of the Resurrection is a fine one indeed, a great story, and an old one."

He cleared his throat. "And it encompasses such a simple yet powerful message: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life." And he told the entire story, of Jesus' life and his death and his resurrection, of the significance of the day, and what it all meant. He didn't read from the Bible, but told it rather like a grandfather talking about his childhood. It was a comfortable story for him, just as real as if he'd sat down to talk about his adventures with the ka-tet.

When he was finished, he offered a prayer, said a few words about the spirit of forgiveness behind the holiday.

And then he stood in front again and with a smile, offered, "And now my part here is done. Please take this opportunity to enjoy each other's company. A very Happy Easter to you all."

[OOC: Gathering post! Tag in with your pup's thoughts about being there, and tag each other for socializing after the service. Happy Easter. :)]
