Approaching the last box shaped hole in the Monolith, Nancy turned the jade box shaped key until she found the right symbol. Pressing it into the empty slot, she was unable to stop a grin as the door slowly creaked open. "Fantastic," she said quietly to herself, stepping a little closer to examine the mummy inside and the papers it was clutching tightly in it's skeletal hands.
"Oh, these must be the notes…" Nancy said aloud, frowning when she realized they were simply blank sheets of paper, aged and bound together. Hearing someone approach from behind though, she quickly turned, only to find herself face to face with…
"Mr. Sinclair?" she asked, looking confused.
"Well, Nancy, you really did live up to your reputation," he said, snatching the papers from her with a grin.
"Those belong to the Mexican Consult!" she gasped, looking more then a little appalled. "You can't take them, what are you going to do with them, sell them on the black market? Is that what you did with those Jade pieces you stole?"
"Yes, yes, very clever," he said waving her off dismissively. "Pity no one will ever get to hear all about how you solved this case. However, I'm sure you'll be very famous indeed when someone finally manages to crack open this Monolith and finds the mummified remains of an ancient Mayan scribe... and you."
With that Taylor Sinclair shoved her backwards and quickly sealed the Monolith shut, trapping Nancy inside it.
Panicked, Nancy tried to push the door open once more, but it was no use, it had locked itself shut again. It was stuffy and pitch black, and Nancy really wasn't sure just how long she'd survive inside. It truly was airtight! Taking a deep breath, she tried to think.
A heartbeat later and she was digging through her bag, pulling out the glow stick she'd acquired earlier in the day and snapping it into life. Using the green glow, she began to peer about… staring right into the face of the mummy.
It was all very far from pleasant.
Something glittered though, from between the mummy's teeth, and with a muttered apology, Nancy pried its mouth open. A key of some sort! But where did it go? She spun about as best as she could, searching the walls with the ever dimming glow of the glow stick, a sigh of relief leaving her as she spotted what could only be the keyhole in one of the walls. Quickly, Nancy pressed the gold knob of a key inside.
With very little grace, one titian haired teen sleuth came tumbling out of the Monolith and fell right into the… Sand?
"Oh dear," she said quietly, dusting herself off and getting to her feet. "This is definitely not the museum."
(It's Nancy, and she's brought a mummy and a very small coffin-like tomb covered in ancient Mayan hieroglyphics. I'm sure some of the squints would like to lay dibs on that. Late tags and slow time very welcome as I'm posting this so late... I just couldn't wait to get her out there. Dated to the morning of the 9th)
