trying out this art thing

Feb 01, 2007 10:49

Alphonse had a few books spread out across the pool table as well as the art set he'd been gifted with by whomever on January 7th. One was a book of prints of the works of Leonardo da Vinci. The others had some color wheels and a guide on light and shadow. He had a colored pencil behind his ear, and a sheet of the broad, white, heavy paper in front of him. it was about half filled with exercises- mostly objects in the rec room, drawn with startling accuracy- as he diligently taught himself how to draw what he saw and not what he thought he saw. His fingertips, cheek, tip of his nose, temple and, somehow, collarbone were all smudged with various colors of oil pastel. He was engrossed.

And it was fun.
