making memories

Eddie and Lily had talked about making a video of Lily's pregnancy, to show their kid when she (or he, Eddie reminded himself) was old enough to appreciate it. But they didn't have a video camera and with Eddie on EI it didn't seem like a very practical thing to buy, so instead they started a scrapbook, and kept a little piece of everything so they ( Read more... )

Lennox was trying to juggle mangos as he entered the rec room, although he certainly wasn't having much success. Two of them dropped and he nearly stepped on them when he noticed Eddie.

"Hey, man," he said with a grin, approaching him with the remaining mango in his hand. The other two lay where he'd dropped them. He figured he'd go back for them later or that someone else would get hungry and pick them up.

"Hey Lennox," said Eddie, looking up from his epic and smiling at him. His pencil was poised in his hand to move on to the next sentence, but his eyes were on the mango. "Is that for me?"

"Huh?" Lennox asked, looking down at his hand. "Oh, yeah, sure." He held it out to Eddie, then went back to pick up the other two that he'd left on the floor. "You want these, too?"

"Uh, that's okay," said Eddie, staring at the fruit and figuring out how he was going to eat it. He was definitely going to have to put the pencil down. "I just need the one, thanks. Do you know anything about making books?"

Hera was a little over three months old now, and it seemed as if she was growing more and more each day. Sharon liked to walk with her, to 'human watch' as it were, a habit she obviously hadn't outgrown. There were so many interesting looking people, and while she didn't usually go out of her way to find out about them personally she still enjoyed observing.

The man who was writing caused her to look twice, he bore a strange resemblance to Tyrol and the sudden memories that accompanied that thought made Sharon stop in her tracks, her arms tightening just slightly around her baby.

Eddie, he had found for the past couple of months -- ever since Lily had started to show, really -- was acutely sensitive to the presence of babies. And so shortly after Sharon entered the room, for no reason at all, he looked up and spotted her. He gave both her and the child in her arms a smile, and then a little wave just for the baby.

Sharon let out the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding and smiled. "Hi. I was staring, sorry," she apologized, going back to gently patting Hera's back.

"That's okay," said Eddie, still smiling. "Do you want to sit down?" He looked around the room, and frowned when he didn't find what he was looking for. "There should be a rocking chair for you. Isn't there a rocking chair anywhere?"

The bookshelf had given Chris what he'd been looking for, though he'd kind of been surprised that he'd managed to actually remember the title considering it hadn't been The Life and Times of Clarice Starling or anything reasonable like that. But, he was definitely interested to find out what lambs had to do with anything though.

With the book tucked under his arm for later reading, Chris turned back around to the Eddie diligently writing and walked over to stand next to him. "Anything interesting?" he asked him, his head cocked to the side as he nosily tried to peer over Eddie's shoulder.

"Yeah, I think so," said Eddie, his tongue flicking to one corner of his mouth as he wrote. "Which day was it that we went for that walk on the beach, do you remember? I need to put that in here."

"Uhm... couple days ago? Saturday night, I think?" Chris replied, trying to think as he shifted to try to see what he was writing. "Are you doing a log or something?"

"It's for the baby," said Eddie, adding that bit of information before he forgot. "It's the story of her daddy's time on the island. There's not much in it so far, but I'm sure there'll be more soon."
