Eddie and Lily had talked about making a video of Lily's pregnancy, to show their kid when she (or he, Eddie reminded himself) was old enough to appreciate it. But they didn't have a video camera and with Eddie on EI it didn't seem like a very practical thing to buy, so instead they started a scrapbook, and kept a little piece of everything so they'd all always remember what it was like. Lily added pictures and receipts and the recipe for her mother's morning sickness remedy. Eddie mostly wrote little notes and stuck them in, about everything he could think of, because it was like a story -- his favourite story -- and he didn't want to forget to tell any of it.

So he found some paper and a pencil in the compound and started writing down everything that had happened to him so far, since he'd found himself on the island.
