J. K. Rowling has said that someone loved Snape. I can't help but feel that it must have been his mother, the former Eileen Prince. He put her maiden name in his private nickname, identifying with her in secret, perhaps deriving strength from that identification, while maintaining his father's surname in public. (
No 'Lord Voldemort' for him. )
Also, I may have cheated a bit by putting text into the picture. If it's not eligible as an entry it doesn't matter - I had fun drawing it ;)
