I usually listen to 98 Rock here in Sacto daily, and today one of the callers called in with a very interesting question/comment. He had moved here from Washington State, and wondered why everyone that he's come across in Sacto is a raving meany. He said that this is the most horrible place that he has ever lived. I have heard many comments like this from people who have moved here from Washington, including my brother who lives there currently. He hates coming down here to visit, not only because it is so hot here to him, but because it drags him down. I could never put my finger on exactly why I am so miserable at times living here, but the DJ kind of nailed it on the head. He said that he didn't know the exact reason why people are awful here, but that it's the most miserable place on this planet, and that it just eats into you, that it basically eats your soul. That the people here will screw you over at every opportunity. Now I think this is a rather bleak observation, but there are some times that I wish that I had never moved here. Mostly because of the heat in the summer, which I hate, but because I absolutely love Washington and miss it all the time. If I really had a choice, I would probably move up there. The DJ also pointed out that a lot of people get stuck here in a rut, which is true. I feel like I am stuck in a rut here often. It's like this neverending cycle of rutness. Not that I hate everything about this town, but there are a lot of rude people in comparison to other states (the Southern states especially), and a lot of people just seem angry. The only thing that the DJ could recommend to the guy that called in, was that he travel on the weekends to other cities within Cali as much as possible. To get away from Sacramento. I kind of understand. I think that if I could take more trips, I might be more content to be around here. Don't get me wrong, I totally love my friends, but if I had a choice, I wouldn't live here. I think I mostly stay because of my son in Yuba City, and my job for the most part, and the fact that I don't really have money to move. Pretty sad, but true. I am one of the many that are stuck in a neverending rut.
