Any cat care advice?

Hey! Thanks for posting!!

I called the woman from the adoption group and she said basically the same thing. I wasn't too worried, but given my lack of cat experience, I thought I'd better double check to be on the safe side. The bit about the cat being a former stray and thus trying to stuff in food all the time totally makes sense as well. I wouldn't be feeding her as much, except that she is so thin, so they told me to always have food out for her.

The kitty hasn't had any furballs yet, which is surprising to me, given that she has medium-length hair. But she hasn't been shedding a lot either, at least not compared to other cats I've been around, so maybe that's why. Do cats shed more or less in some seasons, like rabbits?

I'm really enjoying the cat. She has recently been quite fascinated by the following: a) the printer, b) the toilet flushing, c) the cords on the slatted blinds, d) a cork rolling around on the floor. The cork was actually deliberately introduced as a toy, since it's pretty light and rolls with the slightest touch.
