Just because Imitrex is making you feel draggy, I'd say tell your MD, he may try some other medication with you in another drug class. That doesn't mean that other -triptan drugs will have the same effect. I switched from Imitrex to Relpax and it's made a HUGE difference...drowsiness and HORRIBLE nausea was what Imitrex had to offer me and I experience NONE OF THAT with Relpax. Others in the class include: Zomig, Maxalt and Frova. Other anti-seizure medications such as Topamax and Depakote are used as a preventative so that's something you could explore as well...if you're not asthmatic, something like Amitriptyline or Propranolol could be a preventative as well.
This winter IS giving a lot of us the "BLAH's!" it's not just you...hooray that it's coming to a close (slowly). I'm looking forward to being able to get back out and about exploring to start taking photos again.
Maybe an informal get-together somewhere just to have a nice visit with a new friend will do us both a world of good. I'm free next weekend...maybe lunch at Heartland Café?
thanks for that...i actually printed it out for my n3zt dr's appt. iseriously neeed to do something about this as it is very seriously affecting my ability to function as a human being.much less the larger-than-life persona people attribute to me.
i'm all for a heartland meal with a new friend. i really love just the sound of those very words: "new friend". bugt next weekend i will be piacking my daughter up for her spring break so it might be postponed just a bit more. not long though i hope. i'm really looking gorward to meeting you. :) *hugs*
Sure, no problem. I'll have time next Saturday (made a deal to have off next Thursday in exchange for working Easter Sunday) so I could enjoy some good Heartland cuisine (or there are plenty of other places in the Rogers Park / Evanston / Andersonville area to choose from).
Hope your MD can find a good solution to the migraines...do you see a neurologist?
