Europe, the US, and the freedom of religion

I just finished reading a very interesting paper called "The French and German versus American Debate over 'New Religions', Scientology, and Human Rights" by Stephen Kent, published in the Marburg Journal of Religion, Volume 6 in 2001, and available as PDF on their website.

I was surprised to find out there even was a debate - I never heard of it before. As someone who doesn't know much about Scientology aside from what is public opinion in Germany, I found the article to be very illuminating.

It's strange where you can end up on the internet just because you saw someone referencing 'Xenu' and looked it up on Wikipedia.
