thinky thoughts on Inception (yes, again), languages

Just some thoughts I wanted to get out of my head. :D

-  I've recently seen someone criticize that Inception isn't character-driven enough (at least I think that was the point?) and in a way, I get that. We don't really know all that much about these characters from the movie, do we? And yet there is something appealing about them that inspires so many people to write about them and create a backstory for them.

Anyway, I've seen Inception...4 times so far, I think, and I don't see how it could ever get boring for me - somehow the ending continues to be suspenseful even though I know what's going to happen - probably because of the music? Well, I think I might be able to quote along the whole movie at some point in the near future, though I don't know in which language yet. I think I might like the German voices, especially that of Eames, more than the original ones (gasp!), which is somewhat unusual for me. And that brings me to my next point. (TRANSITION! \^o^/)

- Languages. I know 4 and mostly speak/write in 2 of them: German and English (My Japanese isn't nearly good enough yet, and I just don't like French all that much. Sorry French, I think I simply prefer languages that are a bit more gender-neutral.). I've found that I'm sometimes more comfortable with talking about certain topics in English. Gender and equality-issues, sex and sexuality...those are things I mostly read about on the Internet, be it in fandom or on sites that fandom links to, and those are mainly in English, so when I try to talk about them in German, I need too much time to try and translate my thoughts and end up sounding awkward.
Also, it's not all that unusual for me to try say something only to realize that the sentence structure or words I was going for are English and I have no idea how to translate them. *sigh* And then there was that time when I was talking to my parents and accidentally said 'but' instead of the German word 'aber'. I don't think they noticed, but it was kind of weird for me. ^^''
