Wow! I'm totally charged up! Just got back from Exeter--and using more exclamation points than any sane man should!
The reading went very well, mostly due to the warm welcome of
Water Street Bookstore owner, Dan Chartrand. I showed up about twenty minutes early, and just had to stand out front and stare at my books stacked and standing in the front window. The reading got started around 7:10--people were still browsing shelves. Dan introduced me. I read chapter one of
Seaborn, and then spent a few minutes talking about my writing process, what I'm working on, what's next. Afterward, I signed the stock.
Alice took some pics--click on them to see the large view.
Before setting up, Dan invited me to grab any book off the shelf. It's a tradition for authors with events at the store. I picked the Jack Dann and Gardner Dozois anthology Wizards with some great shorts by Neil Gaiman, Garth Nix, Tad Williams, Elizabeth Hand, bunch of other great authors. I also had Dan sign the book commemorating my first bookstore reading.
Does that kick ass, or what?
Reading and talking...
