Cyclone Larry

Since I have no idea who has or has not heard about Cyclone Larry (even though it seems to have made top US news), and who is or is not aware that Townsville is in north Queensland, lol, I figured I would put up a little post to let anyone who might be curious know that everything here at JCU is okay, myself included.

The cyclone eventually crossed land a few hours north of here last night, but all that seems to have happened to us in Townsville is a bit of tree damage. Right now we're experiencing some winds and heavy rains as an aftermath, but nowhere near the damage that they've suffered up north; one in three houses gone is what I'm hearing. The campus is closed for the day, and we're expecting a second cyclone that's following behind Larry to hit sometime tonight, though nobody seems quite sure when or where it's supposed to happen. Nobody seems to be too worried, though we're all taking special precaution (how I wish I had duct tape). Assuming we don't lose power or anything tonight, I'll send out another okay after the second cyclone has passed. Take care everyone =).
