It was all so clear. Despite everything around her being dark, blending into the night, the scene before her was vivid, almost as if surrounded by an unearthly glow to highlight it in the blackness. Yes it was right in front of her, and yet she could do nothing but stare; the scream of panic, a body falling to the floor, the glint of a blade as it ( Read more... )

"Part of you still remembers if you still see her death in your dreams," Zero replied softly, squeezing Amelia's hand once. That was one thing their nightmares had in common: they were some of their oldest memories, unlocked from their minds only when they slept.

It was his turn, but Zero was still hesitant. It was awkward for him to do this sort of thing, he was never one to open his heart to just anyone. Even so, he was willing to try, especially if it would help to just finally tell someone.

"Mine is a little like that; something I don't remember except when I dream about it. It always starts the same: I wake up in a capsule, and there's a bright white light obscuring the figure of an old man in a white labcoat and wild hair." His body gave an involuntary shudder. "He always says the same thing, 'Zero, my masterpiece... After him! He is my nemesis! Our rivalry is what gives me motivation in life. Now, go! Destroy him! That's an order!' I always try to get something else out of him, but then I get this horrible pain in my head. Then, flashes of old memories: bodies broken, my hands stained with blood, faces looking up at me in terror. And through all those I feel this kind of uncontrollable bloodlust."

Zero gave another shiver to shake it off, snarling in disgust with himself.

"It's made worse by the fact I was created by an unsavory man."

"I was only vaguely told about it though. Really it's just my mind trying to imagine how it might have happened. It's...still very real though." she murmuered, returning the squeeze, grateful for the reassurance of Zero's presense. It did feel like her body was a bit lighter on sharing that, and that it wasn't just her paranoia that was causing her to exaggerate matters.

Honestly, she was a little taken aback as he started to speak, no prompting at all. She listened regardless, eyes widening in disbelief, struggling to imagine just how he was able to cope with such memories. What was even harder to depict was how someone who had been so nice and easy going with her could be the sort of creature that would harm others under orders of some madman. She actually could think of someone else from home who was put in a similar scenario, and how much it had torn him up from the the inside out. She couldn't begin to comprehend how hard things must have been for him.

"Even if he created you, he's not controlling you anymore. You can make your own choices now, and you won't be used by someone else." she assured him, her hold tightening more as she suppressed the urge to simply embrace him. Thankfully, she thought better of that for the moment, trying a more subtle form of comfort first.

Hearing Amelia's response did reassure him. He knew it was true, and he had tried to tell himself that and use that truth to squash down his fears as much as possible, but it was more potent hearing it from someone else. Her tightening grip helped drive it home more, and Zero found himself smiling.

"Yeah, I know. I've always known, but it's nice to hear it from someone else." Nice to hear that there's a chance I'd be accepted regardless, he thought.

Then, just like that, the tension in his shoulders left, and he felt lighter, felt better in general. He hoped he was able to do the same for Amelia.

"What about you? Do you feel any better?"

"Well now you have, and you can believe yourself." she said softly, smiling gently in return. It wasn't his fault, and he certainly didn't deserve punishment for being forced into such acts. Any retribution had been paid for how much he'd probably suffered anyway.

Hearing the question, sne gave a brief nod, her expression showing that clearly, she felt a lot more at ease than before."I do, actually." she answered, sighing in relief as she leaned back against the cushions. "I suppose getting it off my chest was the best thing for me."

It seemed that the same could be said for Zero by the looks of things, which made her happy as well. Still, the downside to all this was that there was little reason left for him to stay, which was a shame. Now that her fear wasn't clouding her senses, she did wish he could stay a bit longer, though wouldn't dare ask.

"Good." Zero watched her for a moment, unsure what to do or say next. He supposed he should let Amelia go back to sleep, as she still looked tired, but she hadn't even let go of his hand yet.

"Hey, uh," he began hesitantly. It couldn't hurt to do her one more favor. "Did you ... want me to tuck you in or something?"

It was only in that pause leading up to Zero's question that Amelia realized she hadn't let go, a blush spreading over her face as she fidgeted nervously. She inwardly scolded herself for letting her mind wander in a such a way, knowing it was a better idea to simply let him leave. However, while she thought about how to tell him it was okay for him to let her be, that wasn't what came out of her mouth.

"I-If you don't mind." she replied quietly, finally releasing his hand, standing up to let the robe slip off her shoulders as she approached the bed, leaving her clad in her nightdress. Even if it was more modest that most things the hotel provided, it still clung to her frame, which was fairly curvy for someone so petite.

Zero caught Amelia's flustered expression, but didn't say anything. She had tried hard to be as courteous to him as possible, seeing as how they just met, so it was only right he did the same for her.

"Of course I don't mind," Zero replied to her statement, watching her stand up. His eyes automatically followed those curves once her robe slid off, but he made sure not to stare too much as he followed her to the bed.

She swallowed, fairly sure she could feel him watching her, even though she was sure it was entirely inncent. It didn't help either way, making the girl feel rather exposed as they approached the bed.

Pulling the covers back, she settled down on the mattress, still a bit tense as Zero moved closer. Despite that, she wasn't about to act ungrateful for all her had done for her. "Thanks, for helping me I mean." she murmured, cheeks still pink but lips curved into a small grin, laying back as her gaze fixared on him.

Zero sat down on the bed beside her, then bent down until his face nearly touched hers. By then he was seriously considering just staying there with her, which was strange since he couldn't feel any aphrodesiacs at work. It must have been because she just gave him exactly what he had needed all those years, but was either too prideful or too afraid to ask for, even from his closest friends.

"And thank you, Amelia, for the same." The Hunter then closed the distance between them, lips locking onto hers gently. At the same time he pulled the sheets over her shoulders, tucking one side under an arm.

She immediately flushed at the close proximity, trying to convince herself this was entirely innocent. Unfortunately, that notion failed when he felt his lips over hers, a muffled gasp of surprise escaping into the kiss. Somehow, that tenderness made her melt, leaving her unable to put up a fight as she returned the kiss, pressing close.

As he tucked one of her arms in, the remaining free one reached up, cupping the side of his face and gently stroking with her fingers. If her reluctance from before was hard to deal with, the building sensation now at the prospect of him leaving was ten times worse. Even so, she couldn't just blurt that out. The gesture, however, might give him a clue.

Zero felt himself warm up as Amelia returned the kiss, placing his hand over hers when it reached up to stroke his face. He had a feeling she didn't exactly want him to leave either. He had to confirm, though; ladies didn't like it when one just assumed their intentions.

"Do you want me to stay?" he murmured softly, his lips just centimeters from hers. He kissed her once more, a soft chaste touch, while waiting for her answer.

A brief nod was his answer, her lips still brushing his as she craned her neck maintain closeness, humming into the kisses as her hand continued to touch him, encouraged by his hand over hers.

"Only if you want to." she said softly, not wishing to guilt him into staying with her. It was his choice, and she would accept that decision, whatever it might be.

Zero gave Amelia a deeper kiss in response, slightly nodding as he did so. Yes, he very much wanted to stay with her, even if it was just for tonight. He was reluctant to pull away, but he had to if he wanted to strip himself of his armor.

He slightly smiled to himself when he realized he was essentially giving her a show, removing his armor piece by piece, and then stripping off his bodysuit completely. Lastly, he untied his hair and let it fall loose from its usual low ponytail.

He winked at her teasingly as he walked to the other side of the bed and crawled in, then draped one arm over Amelia and let her snuggle against him if she wanted.

Amelia responded eagerly, both in pleasure and thanks for what he was doing. She did back off when needed, but still leaned forward, fixated, only to flush on seeing him starting to undress.

She knew it was rude to stare, and honestly a bad idea all things considered, but she simply found she couldn't tear her eyes away. It wasn't just that he was notably handsome, but also how different he looked as the armor came off. Such elaborate battlewear was new to her. It certainly looked more complex than the medieval stuff she was used to seeing at home, and had the misfortune of being stuck in at one point.

The wink earned another blush, but even so, she wasted no time in curling up his arm, cuddling up close as her face nuzzled into the side of his neck affectionately. She hadn't considered how the material of her nightwear against his skin was making him feel, just wishing to show appreciation for him staying with her, looking up at him with big innocent eyes.

If he thought Amelia was cute before, he by now thought she was absolutely adorable. The affectionate nuzzle certainly helped with that, and he grinned with a light chuckle.

Her body felt very warm to the touch, and soft. Her nightgown added to the effect. Zero kissed her again, as gentle as the first two, and even ran one hand down her body before pulling her closer against him. He didn't want to go too far too fast; after all, they just met. It was bad enough he couldn't keep his lips off her.

Hearing him laugh made her flush further, though the smile never left her lips. As he moved in to kiss her again, her head fell back, the girl sighing against his mouth, her form relaxing in the hold. Her own arms wound around him to draw them even closer together, fingers carefully tangling in his hair.

Whatever pace he wished was not going to earn a complaint from her, though she did appreciate how slow and tender he was being. It just assured her Zero was being sincere his gestures, something that made her much more comfortable in melting against him. The hand that wasn't in his hair roamed down his back, rubbing over his skin, her small form shuddering when her bare legs brushed against his.
