Slave Market [and possibly Obedience] // Aphro eventually

Jan 12, 2011 04:45

The large room was full of hustle and bustle, as many had turned out for the annual auction of rarities, but it wasn't for little trinkets, high-class gemstones and historical artifacts - it was an auction for people and magical creatures that were used as potential sex slaves and companions. Mostly they were wild and untamed, taken forcefully from ( Read more... )

Kaiba refrained from getting angry at the man's casual attitude, but he merely bent to whisper in his ear. The auctioneer went white and Kaiba smirked, taking the key and note from him. He beckoned to the girl, his face going completely impassive as he examined her.

He himself was not one to randomly buy women for his entertainment. No, he could easily attain any companion he liked, but something about the slave auctions made him unspeakably angry. He didn't have the power to have them shut down, and he sensed that the trade would go on anyway, in more secrative places. He could only do his best and liberate as many as he could.

What was spoken between her new owner and the seller was something the sprite was probably something that she wouldn't understand and didn't need to know.

Their eyes met, but she wasn't sure what to make of them. What she felt from them was some sort of good intention, but not like the others that had made up the bidding audience. A look of slight fear took over her face, and to be honest, Mesprit was more afraid of what people in general would do to someone like her. Perhaps she could break free once an opening could be found, before things got too far out of hand.

He walked along with her out of the building, flipping open his cellphone, dialing a number, and saying a single word before closing it. A sleek black car pulled up in front of them not more than 5 minutes later. Its windows were tinted, but other than that, it looked inconspicuous enough.

Feeling her hesitation, he turned to face her, offering his hand, though not altering his expression in any way lest someone from the underworld was watching.

She had been sold to a quiet one, that was definitely sure, as well as quite mysterious. What did he want with her, and... who was he contacting with that phone?

So many unanswered questions, yet Mesprit was still a bit wary once the car arrived and his hand was outstretched towards her. Hmm, that seemed trusting enough, but the sprite nervously brought her hand to meet his. "W-what do you want with me...?"

Kaiba rolled his eyes. "What does it matter?" he hissed. "Just get in the car and don't make me use force." He couldn't afford to seem all weak and full of emotion at this point. People had to think that he was ruthless Seto Kaiba, ruler of the gaming world and not some sweet little philanthropist off liberating people in need.

With no show of urgency in his movements, he guided Mesprit to the car.

Was that a threat? Oh, the last thing Mesprit wanted to do was to cause any trouble. With an understanding nod, she did as she was told, stepping into the car like he wanted. Perhaps this would get her on his good side if she just followed directions.

Then again, the sprite could have read him like a book... if she wished to.

Kaiba muttered some instructions to the driver and then sat, arms crossed, ankle resting on one knee, and stared out the window. After some time he unrolled the window and after carefully wiping the keys down with a cloth, tossed them out. "Eh, so, you're safe now, before you freak out. And don't," he said, turning to her suddenly, "don't even think about thanking me, or getting hysterical, or whatever. Alright?" He tried not to take notice of her slender body and revealign outfit. He hadn't bought her for anyone's pleasure. " You'll be given some new clothes when we arrive and then we'll arrange for you to go somewhere safe."

Mesprit didn't know what the key and the other stuff was for, but she still had the collar on, unknowing of its purpose. At least the interior of the car was nice, better than where they'd kept her prior to the auction. It kept her attention on him nonetheless.

"O-oh... tha--" She was about to say 'thank you', but the words simply halted in her throat; it's not that she remembered that he'd said not to, but it was more of... something making her not say it. Making up for her sudden interrupted sentence, Mesprit just lowered her head in a nod, letting her eyes show her thanks without saying so. "I mean, a-all right." Her fear was lessened, and a small smile reflected how grateful the sprite was. "I... I was afraid you were like the others... but you don't seem that way. I still wish I could repay you somehow; it's only fair for what you've done."

"I'm doing this for myself, not out of any desire to do good. I don't understand why you people keep telling me thank you when I'm not inconveniencing myself in any way." The yellow of the streetlights barely penetrated the darkness of the windows, but they still cast interesting shapes across her skin. Distracting. "I don't deserve thanks." He paused. "Do you have any relatives, people you want kept safe?"

"How strange..." Usually people liked being thanked for doing something good for someone else, or at least getting something in return in some way. "Don't you... like a kind word said to you?" That question was awkward, but she couldn't help but be curious about her savior, or at least making him happy in some way - that's all Mesprit really wants.

As for relatives, the sprite had brothers and sisters, but they were older and much more mature than she was. "Well, I have my older sisters and big brothers... but I think they'll be fine. I haven't seen them in a long while though..." Then again, Mesprit has no idea exactly where she is and how far away it is from Sinnoh. "But I doubt they'd ever end up in anything like this. I roam too much, and that's why I got captured."

"I don't like anything of the sort." He really disliked the feeling of being thanked, of people fawning over him moaning about just how good he was, nothing like the cold, cruel businessman the media portrayed him as. "I just... dislike the idea of trading human beings or humanoid beings. It's disgusting."

"Anyway, no family in danger? Well, at least that's one less thing to take care of." The limo pulled up to a rather spacious-looking mansion. "You'll stay the night. Preparations will be made for you to leave in the early hours of the morning so I suggest you rest early."

"I see..." Pink hair fell a little with her hair at his admission. It seemed so sad, for one to deny something as warm as gratitude. If only there was something she could do... but his reasons of saving her made sense by that response. "I... I understand your feelings. It is an awful practice from what I've felt and seen. No one should ever be treated like that, but..." The sprite paused, making sure that her eyes met his. "...it's a good thing that someone cares enough to try and save them." Then again, in her world, it's usually monster-like creatures that are traded, bred and caught for battles and other uses. It was similar... yet a bit different.

Mesprit was surprised by his offer, nearly slipping up again with thanks. Instead, why not something else... like a little bit of subject-changing conversation? "Oh my...! Well, since you don't want to be thanked by me, I could learn your name instead? I hope you don't mind me asking."
