So here's what you missed on Glee:

Puck and Santana have been stranded on an island that kind of reminds them of Lost, except without the cool polar bears and the smoke monster, and both of them are missing home and feeling way out of their league, even if neither will admit to it. ( "Not your type of party, is it?" "If I say no, you're going to Read more... )

Blinking, Kurt managed to keep his immediate response down to a small tilt of his head; he supposed that off the stage, pretty much any character would lose a bit of their shine. Be rendered more human, as it were. Still, it's more than a little jarring to find himself distracted from Josh Groban's curls, from his eyes, from the desire to hear him sing, and instead be confronted with a man clearly bitter. (Though, from what Kurt remembers of the plot, he can't say that Anatoly is completely unjustified in his frustration.)

"Ah... yes," he slowly nodded, pressing his lips together, slightly nervous as he tried to determine what he was supposed to say next. "Yes, I'm definitely familiar with the long-time rivalry, although of course I suppose I wear the lenses of someone a bit more removed. Someone in the audience, as it were. Though I think you'll find that in just about any field, there are those people whose primary aim is money. In principle, rather disappointing, but I can't say that they haven't each added their own little push to the world in turn."

In truth, Kurt had a very reasonable point but Anatoly was not quite ready to subscribe to any positive notions about Freddie's quest for money, even despite the tentative truce the two of them had. Freddie might be his equal on the board but in terms of motivation, there was no doubt in Anatoly's mind as to who was the superior player.

"Forgive me," Anatoly said humbly. "I did not mean to - what is that word? Vent. I did not mean to vent at you. He and I... the history has been difficult as you know. He is here as well, you see."

As soon as it seemed that Anatoly's temper had subsided, a smile worked its way across Kurt's expression again. Not quite proud- he only knew the guy as a fictional character, after all, and were he to be honest with himself and about his expectations, then in truth, he'd expect the conciliatory words to come in the form of song- but still glad nonetheless for the rocky bridge to be smoothed over to an extent. Glad, too, that he wouldn't become the point of contact for any venting that needed to be done.

If only because, well, it would be pretty hard to be angry with Adam Pascal's face, if any middlemanning was required.

"It's fine," he shook his head, waving a hand dismissively. "Trust me, I'm still in high school, the whole venting thing happens everywhere you turn and you kind of get used to it. And, for anyone who doesn't want to bend over at every negative emotion, you learn how to employ it as well. I know how cathartic it can be."
