ceilings, fucking, decaf, bagpipes, and cookie dough

The weekend, so far, as it happened:

Friday. I went with Tatiana, Ben, and Ben's friend Brandon to eat at the Grit, which was quite delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fun, too...there was some funky artwork on the walls and quite a nice ceiling. The ceiling had these brown tiles, that gave almost a Morroccan feel to the restaurant. Anyway, afterwards, we saw Super Size Me which essentially made me sick to my stomach. Seriously, if you haven't seen that movie, you should definitely see it...although it will make you never want to LOOK at a McDonald's again in your life.

Saturday. After going to Walmart (sorry, Janet. it's just so cheap! i know that their labor practices are atrocious, and i'm trying to cut back), I hung out in the dorm, doing a little homework and talking to people on the phone and online. Around 7ish, Sara, Jason, and I left to go see Paradise Hotel, or, more accurately, HOTEL FUCK. It's this absurdist play about sexuality and the puppets that our sexuality makes of us. The acting, well, was a bit sub-par on some levels/in some scenes, but, for the most part, the play was really good. Of course, it had several levels to it, and the director took some liberties with the script, but it was nothing like The Chairs at Seven Stages. Oh, that was an interesting one, wasn't it...

Anyway, later, after the actors held an "after the show" discussion, where everyone was delightfully (or irritatingly) pretentious, Jason, Sara, and I headed over to Espresso Royale, where I had some yummy coffee (decaf, of course, because I'm a LOSER), and we all people-watched, and saw some people that we knew. Later, we walked around downtown, until we saw a Badass Bagpipe Player, who was playing the Bagpipes for money. After he had finished a song, we had a really pleasant conversation with him. He's definitely a Badass. He lived in Scotland for four years on a two-month visa. Some guy from work, who had tried to kill him by knocking him off his bike (he worked for a bike courier), turned him in. Now, he's not allowed to go back to Scotland unless he gets married to a Scot or something. Haha. I love meeting interesting, new people. I think his name was Jeff, but it really doesn't matter, anyway.

After getting back to the dorm, I went to Rachel's room and hung out with her and Deep. Then, her roommate came in, and we all munched (except Deep, who thought it was disgusting), on chocolate chip cookie dough.

Overall, it's been a good weekend.
